Sex before marriage a SIN?
How does your religion, or lack thereof, affect this subject?
Im conflicted in this issue. I believe that sex without love isn't right, but my religion states that having sex without being married is in fact a sin. What do you think?

I was raised catholic, so it was considered a sin. That said, I did not have a problem with it so long as I was in love and considered the relationship to be on the path to marriage. I've slept w/ 2 men, and married them both. I do not feel I did anything wrong. I lived w/ my 2nd husband for about a year before we got married as I was not managing on my own financially. He also felt it was important to live together first based on the bad experience he had in his first marriage.
I do not believe in sleeping around. I think that is disrespectful to yourself.
I think that Americans in general are far too uptight about sex. It's not a matter of whether or not you are married to the guy - it's more that you pick a good person. I've seen too many people marry a complete jerk because they got pregnant. Well, if you picked someone who wasn't a complete jerk to begin with, it wouldn't be such a problem.

It depends on your definition of marriage. Would the couple have to be married according to the law? or the Bible? Although there were some wedding ceremonies in the Bible, lots of people just moved in together and called themselves married.
I do think if a couple is committed to each other, that's a marriage in God's eyes (with or without the piece of paper). But it also follows that if they split up, that is equal to a divorce.

My religion (Catholicism) considers it a sin. I however, do not. I think as long as you take the decision seriously, and respect yourself (and the other person), and it is a decision based on love and not lust, then it would be fine.
I think sleeping around with all sorts of people is a sin. Promiscuity. That's the word I was thinking of. I do agree that that is a sin.

I was raised Catholic and it was considered a sin. I never felt it was. I also don't feel you have to be in love to have and enjoy sex, although, I think love makes it even more enjoyable.

I'm not religious (I'm an atheist), so there's no opinion there. I don't think it's a sin (but I don't believe in sins either).
I think you should wait until you are mentally and physically mature to handle any of the consequences of having sex. This includes everything from one night stands, if you can't handle being hurt the next day don't do it, to STDs to pregnancy.
I don't have a problem with a couple of mature adults casually having sex. I don't have a problem with older teenagers having sex. As long as everyone is being safe, consensual and knows exactly where everyone stands as far as accidental pregnancy, or even if they are in a real relationship.

Hmmm...good question! I am leaning toward yes, it is a sin...
But then again you see people who get married multiple times without thought, so I guess I think that's a sin too.....
I think a lot of it has to do with the level of committment. If 2 people were together for their lives but were not officially married, i would not consider that a sin....in my mind they would be married by the way they live.
