How do you prevent sun burn?

What level of SPF do you wear? What level do your kids wear? How often do you reapply? How long are you out in the sun?

I use spf 15 for myself, spf 30 for my kids. We reapply every time we go outside and after sweating for a while outside. I don't have a specific time limit, I just go by when I feel like I have sweat enough sunscreen off. Bob likes to wear a baseball cap, but Jamie doesn't like it, yet. We are never in the sun much longer than an hour to an hour and a half.

We don't use anything under SPF 30. We apply sunscreen at least a half an hour before we go out. I read somewhere that it needs that long to "activate" for full benefits. We resunscreen every 2-4 hours depending on the conditions (sweat, water games, etc.). I wear hats with a rim most of the time and sunglasses. The kids wear ballcaps and sunglasses. I LOVE the new spray on sunscreens. Now, I just line the kids up and spray on down the line. Much easier than applying lotion to everyone. I'm always careful to sunscreen DD's parts in her hair, too!

When we are in the water, the best protection is a rash guard. We have SPF 70 sunblock. I always use the face sticks because they hold up better. I reapply as needed, varies with activities.
