First, I want to say thank you. To everyone on this board in general. So many of you seem to have such motivation and determination. You're all inspiring. I don't want to get more specific than that and point out certain people because that seems rude, and you're all great

And about me...
Yesterday and today I've got a little exercise in. Actually, today I did a run. The route I did is about a mile, and it took me 10 minutes. Mostly walking, and with I'm guessing 2 minutes of running (5 minutes was to warm up. The 2 minutes were about 1 min, 2 times) But, (this may be TMI) I did...start my period today and I still went out

Other than that... the couple times in the last few months my husband has went out jogging, apparently he can jog the whole time (no stopping to walk). And according to Google Map Pedometer: Use This GMaps Pedometer to Draw Your Walking, Running, or Biking Route the route is 2 miles I have to stop and walk because 1. I get tired. 2. when I start to get tired it's hard to remember to breath through my nose and then my throat hurts.

One last thing... I made an account on SparkPeople, and so far it looks like a good site. (thanks mamaof3kiddies for having yours in your signature! That's how I ended up checking the site out)

Good for you!!!!
That was awesome initiative!!!!

To keep yourself motivated I will say this:
don't focus on the numbers. If it takes you 15 minutes to run a mile, who cares? you've done it, and you should be proud of that! Even if you walked part of it...the fact of the matter is, you got up, you went out, and you did it. Versus not doing it at all!

Kudos to you!

There is a couch to 5K program on here you can follow. A group of girls are just finishing up the last stages of it, but I'm sure you can follow the old posts and see how they faired.

It won't be easy. There will be bumps along the way....but stick with it. You will see results in your running, your motivation and your self esteem!

So proud of you!

Sweet!!!

If you'd like to check out the Couch to 5k, it will help you build the endurance you need to run 3 miles. I started in February and am now running 4 miles. Here is the link: Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan

I will also add I signed up for a 5k in October. So, I think that will help keep me motivated to. If I don't do it it'd be a waste of money.

And yeah, I figure a little over 17 weeks is definitely enough time to get ready for it

Wow - you are amazing! You are pushing through your "running/jogging" -- just keep working at it. When I first started back in Dec 2006 I could not run for more than 1/2 block without becoming winded. And now look at me - I can run a 5K in 27 minutes.
Great job on starting with Sparkpeople -- it has been a great resource for me! Glad I was able to help you out!!!
