I started highlighting at about 35, and then last year at 40 added an all-over color because the highlights no longer disguised the gray. At the beginning of this summer, I told DH I was going natural. I really thought I could do it, too, but I caved last week and made an appointment for a cut and color. Part of my problem was that I started noticing women who went gray (and DH would point them out at times trying to be supportive) and it struck me that what I noticed about their appearance was their gray hair - not the style or what they were wearing, but the fact that they were gray. Some women can wear it really well, but mine was not a pretty gray.
I also like the courseness it adds to my hair - I have very fine hair and it gives it more volume. If I didn't color my hair I would probably be paying for perms, so I may as well get rid of the gray in the process!
