That little voice you hear in your head telling you "no don't do it" or "have another baby" or "you need to go and do this today", do you think that is your conscience talking to you or God or both? How do you know when GOD is actually talking to you? How do you know when God has a plan for you?

I do feel like I am guided through my life. I tend to think it is God more than just my conscience. There have been several times in my life when I felt like I was spoken to.

Once I was driving my car home and something came over me. The thought was put into my head that my dad wasn't going to be with us very long. I cried histerically all the way home and said out loud that I wasn't ready for that yet. We had another year with him. I didn't know he was that sick at the time.

I have felt that circomstances occured that prevented me from being in certain places at certain times. Sometimes it seems like everything is going wrong and I can't do the thing that I had planned for the day and then later I will find out there was an accident or something happened where I was going to be.

I do feel moved, watched over and blessed and I do feel God has a plan for us. We sometimes just have to be quiet and listen to it.

I feel that way too. Sometimes I have even said to myself that I live in a bubble. I feel so blessed, more than I deserve.

I think your conscience and God speaking are pretty much the same. If the thought is from God it should be truth, so if something is not true and not right, then you should know that it's not from God. I do think God has a purpose for each of our lives and we won't feel at peace until we do what He wants us to do. I think I write this in every email, but if you haven't read the Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, you should read it probably more than one time! I am reading it for the second time and I am learning stuff that I didn't get the first time around.

I am bringing this up because our pastor was talking a lot about listening to what God has planned for us and that we should follow what God asks of us. A lot of the time I hear a little voice in my head saying "reach out and do this" and so I do....and I don't know if that is my good will or God nudging me to do something!

I was also curious to know what others felt about it!

I this God has a plan for us. I think we are using both our conscious and following Gods plan. they are the same thing. He has made the road and we are following it. I think all events like you missing an accident, you being somewhere where you shouldnt be, all events are written in our lives before we are aware of them, even before we exist.

If you hear that little voice prompting you, then by all means you should do what it is telling you to do. I know lots of times certain people, that I haven't thought of in years will pop into my head, and I feel prompted to call them or go by and see them, or drop them a card in the mail, and many times they all tell me that something was going on and they were so glad that I called, came by, or dropped them a card. Many times if someone pops in my head, I immediately say a prayer for them because you never know what is going on! Many times ladies from this board, I can't even put a picture to their face, come to my mind and I immediately say a prayer because even though I don't know what they look like, or what is going on in their lives, I know that God does, and who couldn't use a little prayer help sometimes!!!!?????? Since I've read Warren's book, I am much more attentive to what God is speaking to me.

The closer to God you are the more likely you are to hear Him speaking to you. I have never heard God in an audible voice. I have the feelings deep inside He is telling me to do something. Several times I have been prompted to call to check on someone and find out latter they were going through a battle at the time. I also have had my days plans to be messed up and then something happens and I understand why my plans were changed. God had a plan all along. I was following my plan not His. I also feel very blessed and cared for. I have had people to tell me at church they had prayed for me during the week. I know God had layed it on their hearts to remember me and my situations in prayer. God was the only one that knew what I was going through. I must have quiet time with God everyday to listen for God to speak to me. Sometimes He uses a person, sometimes He uses word in the Bible, sometimes He telll you Himself. You never know when and where God can speak to you.
Some people would never give money to a stranger. But twice in the same month I was approached by someone who needed money. Once was in a store. They had left their wallet at home. She told me she would pay me back and I told her no she did not have to. She needed gas to get home. The man approached me in a parking lot. He needed food to eat. Both times I gave each one $5. Some people might think it was a complete waste of my money. I look at it like maybe it was a test from God to see if I would help someone I had never met. I thought about what if it were Jesus himself. I just could not say no. I feel like I have been very blessed by giving.

I do not think that conscience and God are one and the same. That is completely ludicris as people who do not believe in God have a conscience (see itstinkerbelles post of the Reverend demystifying Paganism, it also applies here). That little voice is present in most people no matter what deity they worship or don't. I know right from wrong and am a very moral person and live my life as a good and just person, but I do not believe in God. There is actually a dissorder where a person has no conscience, but whose to say they don't believe in God or a master plan.

My sister who is a devout Christian believes your conscience is different than God communicating with you. She says God talks to her through her daughter (she's 3) who at times when it's most needed says things that are kind of cryptic and fortelling. My niece was not quite 2 1/2 and my sister had a bad day with lots of things that went wrong when she told her to persevere, everything will work out and to keep her faith. My niece had no idea what these words ment, but that she was supposed to say them to my sister. Conscience and our innervoice is a way of reminding us right from wrong or keeping us out of harms way. Wether you believe that it is God's hand leading you is a very individual thing, I just don't happen to believe that.
