I'm in the minority. I think obesity is mostly due to laziness. I've read reports from doctor surveys that genetic or medical-related factors account for under 10% of all obesity. Some of those factors include: mental health conditions, brain injury, PCOS, and thyroid problems. IMHO, the rest is due to poor self-control.

Mind you, I'm a 50-yr old woman who is around 30 lbs overweight. I have significant health issues (arthritis and asthma) that limit my ability to exercise and I take prednisone which tends to make one very hungry. Yet, I blame my excess weight on my poor self-control. We all have excuses, but I have no reason. If I was sufficiently motivated to lose the weight and focused my time and energy to do so, I could.
