Do you try to get your family to run or walk with you? Or do any kind of exercise together?
My dh, when I met him, would run at the track that was just up the street from where he lived. He is a sprinter though, and I am a distance runner, so we couldn't really find a happy medium while running road courses, the track was alot easier but still not as fun as running WITH someone.
Now that we are married, we live just outside the city limits, so in order to walk to the nearest grocer/drugstore we have to walk along a busy road, with little or no sidewalks, so it's a little daunting to get out and walk. Running solo, however, is a little easier. My kids do not like walking, but I found a way to get a good run in and have them with me. What we do is, they ride their bikes and I will run with them. It is alot of fun to run with them because it speeds up my pace. They get the biggest kick out of making me run faster and faster to keep up with them.
I hve to say though, when I am doing my exercising at home, with shows or dvds, I like and want to do them by myself, early in the morning before anyone gets up. I tried doing them after the kids woke up the other morning and one was either trying to climb on my back when I was doing pushups or standing right with me, like a shadow, mimicking everything I did and running circles around me, trying to get between my legs before I bent over, etc. Normally, I only have to worry about the cats trying to grab my feet. My one cat will come over a plop down right on top of my foot or if I am doing crunches, crawl up on my chest. LOL Or the dog laying down in front of me.
How do you incorporate the whole family into exercising together??

It's just DH and me so I do my workouts in the morning (yoga or running). Then when he gets home I'll go running or bike riding with him. We walk our dogs together twice a day. I get the best of both worlds. . . I get to exercise by myself and with him!

When I work out to a video, the boys kind of dance around with me. They love it. We go for walks. I push the double stroller, but Bob gets out sometimes and walks beside me. Twice in the past week we have all four gone for a walk and I love it. DH pushes the stroller and his legs are so long I have to really speed walk to keep up. I know that I'm actually burning calories this way! I love the idea of all of us working out together. I think it's a good habit to start the kids on while they are young.

I typically need to do my workouts without the kids (and the dog) around me -- always jumping all over me. But I make sure when we are outside, we are running around, going for walks or riding bikes.

In the summer and fall we go for family walks or bike rides almost every night after dinner. It's one of my favorite times of day.

My dh and I were both very athletic types in high school when we met. We used to cheer each other on at our sporting events. Now because of his insane work schedule we don't work out together but we both do consider our work outs as a high priority on our daily to do list!
We have however, talked about running in a half marathon/marathon one day.....clearly I am the one holding us back from that! He's already completed a marathon!

Our family exercise varies by season. We waterski, swim and bike in the summer. In the fall & spring we bike and hike. In the winter we snow ski and play in the snow. We also play all sorts of ball with the kids, soccer, catch, softball, etc.
I get up at 5ish am and run 3x a week on the treadmill. I've been able to run a few Saturdays outside when my husband is home. In the non-ski season I also do strength training.

We are going to buy bikes very soon (probably in the next couple weeks, depending on our budget) so we can bike together as a family. DH will get a seat on the back of his for DS(4). He says he'd rather bike than run, which is fine by me. There are a lot of beautiful state parks around us that have bike trails; we plan on making days of biking/picnic as a family.

Our family doesn't exercise like we should. We do all like to play the Wii Fit at the same time. The kids love this.

We used to go to the karate school tree times a week and workout. Now DH takes the boys 2X/week. I've not been released to do anything but walk and we don't have a good place to walk close by. I also used to do a lot of yoga, chi-flex, etc. on video at home before everyone else got up.
