Sounds like a pinched nerve. I've had it before and it's not too fun. Unfortunately all I know to do is wait out the pain. Hope you feel better soon!

I agree that it sounds like a pinched nerve. If you can, take Ibuprofen (Advil or the generic) which should definitely help!

Ouch!!!! I get these too all the time. They hurt so bad I have sat and cried. I use those thermalheat wrap thingies that you can stick right on your neck and leave there or one of those corn or rice sock looking things you can put in the microwave. Icy Hot or Vicks if you have it will help too. I take 3 advil when I get it too. I'm so sorry this happend to you, can you have someone massage it for you....

All of the above, and try Doans Pills. Your Dr. may prescribe a muscle relaxer if it's muscular, so it may be worth a call if it is really painful. Feel better!!!

This happens to me all the time, usually when I am getting out of bed. I have learned to get up VERY gently so I don't pull anything. The bad thing is that once you have an injury of this sort, you are prone to get them again repeatedly. Advil, definitely. I use this pain relieving icy gel and that helps a lot. Good luck.

You could also see a chiropractor. My dh's neck does this all the time--and mine does occasionally, although I generally have more trouble with my lower back. FYI, you can tell him/her you don't want your neck popped, if you want. Most chiropractors can/will do a more gentle manipulation. Almost like massage.
If you can find it, there's a product called "Biofreeze" that seems (for me, at least) to work better than the "IcyHot"-type products. It doesn't smell as bad, either.
Hope you're feeling better soon!

So today I couldnt even turn my head an inch! Yesterday when I went to the Dr for my flu shot I had told them it was hurting really bad. They didnt do anything but said I should call if it got worse. So today IT"S DEF worse! I call - they say well do you wanna come in? I was like NO I was just there! You saw me in pain can you just do something PLEAZEEEEEE!
Well it was 4 hrs later they called and said they would call in a muscle relaxer- since I have daycare OBVIOUSLY I cant take it till 5pm. but then look out! Until then DH went and got me a "well patch" and Im sittin on a heatin pad during nap time.... a couple of advil 2.... Thanks for the advice. I hope it goes away SOON. waaaaaaaaa its hurts!
