MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive from you a picture of yourself and/or you and your kids to include with the survey. Having a picture included with the survey is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the next round. Mom of the Week will be featured on Monday mornings. Please keep in mind you are free to answer as many or as few of the questions as you want. This entire thing is on a voluntary basis. Mallory – 11, Allie- 8 and Steps Matthew & Megan -16
Were you ready for motherhood? Yes, I received an instant family with dh as he had two children from his first marriage, but I was ready.

Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you? Yes, My best friend Christine and her parents, She came into my life when my family was going through a very difficult time. I was in 3rd grade. My mom was dying of cancer and Chris 7 Her family came into my life and led me down a positive road. Her family adopted me as one of their own. They took me to church, Sunday school, and youth group and on many of their family trips. If it wasn’t for them and their positive influence on my life I am not sure where I would be today.

Do you have any nervous habits? What are they? I bounce my knee

Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him?
I did not do a lot of dating, so I didn’t really take any guys home to meet my dad or brothers
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you?

What did you learn the most from your mother? That is a tough one because my mom died when I was 8 years old. But I guess I would have to say her cooking. She was a wonderful cook and I use a lot of the same recipes that she did.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip?
I am not a coupon shopper. I am trying to learn though.
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here? Many years ago I was searching for money saving tips and came across this site. I then signed up for the newsletter and received that for quite a while before going to the forums. Now I am addicted. No I have not referred anyone here. This is my safe haven!!!!!!

Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice? From reading everyone’s posts I am learning to be more frugal.

Have you ever met a mommysaver? Yes I have. I met Jacaminsmommy this past August.

What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you? Believe it or not I think that way my dh proposed was very romantic. We were sort of living together at the time and he worked the day shift and I worked retail hours. I wasn’t due to go to work until noon on Valentine’s Day 1992. So anyway Dh got up to get ready for work, he came back over to the bed got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The first words out of my mouth were “are you serious?” Then of course I said yes.

Tell us five things you like about yourself. I am not sure if I can come up with 5 but I will try. My cooking, I am a good listener, my smile, being a good mom and my ability to get things pulled together on a whim

What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work? I am not really into a hobby right now; my life is pretty much my family at this stage of the game, so I have no time for a hobby.

I kissed a few frogs before Mr. Right came along. Yes he was definitely worth the wait.
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert? I like country and Christian music. My favorite group is Rascal Flatts and Sugar land and my favorite Christian groups are Casting Crowns, Third Day and Point of Grace. I have not seen any of them in Concert.

What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose? I hope that my children grow up to be well educated and happy. Mallory would make a good lawyer because she likes to debate. Allie I am not sure she I think would make a great nurse. Matthew wants to be a mechanic like his dad and grandpa. Megan can’t seem to make up her mind, for years she wanted to do something with art and now she is talking about going into something with Physics or Chemistry.

Are there words you live by? What are they? Yes,
“Never go to Bed Mad” and I always kiss my children and dh good-bye and tell them that I love them because life is too short.
