What is your first name? Wendy
What are your kids’ names and ages? Bob is 3 and Jamie is 2.
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here? I did a search for stay at home moms. Mommysavers is exactly what I was looking for. I have told so many people about Mommysavers, but if they joined they never told me or haven't ever posted.
What does your user name mean? It's a play on hippie chick and I thought it was cute.
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice? Oregano's advice about using vinegar to clean has probably saved me the most money. Calimari has been a good example of using logic and reasoning when it comes to anything--parenting, politics and religion. The main thing I have learned here is that I'm not always right and there is more than one way to do something.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? Lately I have only been using 5-10 a week. I need to get back into the groove with coupons and rejoined some coupon trains.
What was your most recent "bargain"? This isn't necessarily a bargain, but it goes with what I have learned at Mommysavers: I was looking for green t-shirts for the boys to wear for St. Patrick's Day. While shopping I saw two shirts that were green that they already had so I realized I didn't need to buy them something new, they could wear the others.
What have you done to save money this week? I cut my soda intake from 12 bottles to 3 or 4 a day. I am still working on cutting back more.
What do you consider a way of life that others think is a crazy way to save? I like redesigning my old clothes. If I have two shirts that have holes in them or are stained and most people would throw away, I can usually find a way to use them and make something new--whether it's another shirt or something else like a bag or a book cover or peices for a new quilt.
What is your favorite store in which to find bargains? I really don't have a favorite store and most of the time I only have access to Walmart or our local grocery store. I am trying to figure out how to get all the free or really cheap stuff using coupons at Walgreens.
What is the best deal you ever found (even if it wasn’t at your favorite store)? Sometimes I find coupons for $2 off kotex with wings. I usually don't like wings, but when I can get the bag for 58 cents it's worth it!
What is your best money saving tip? Don't be brand loyal if you can help it!
What is your favorite frugal meal? Ham and beans
Do you enter contests? If so, what is the best prize you’ve ever won? I don't usually enter contests.
If money were no object, what 3 things would you buy yourself or your family? A new house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and laundry facilities on the main floor and a nicer car. There really isn't anything else I need or want that I can't already get.
If you had $10 to spend on yourself (you and you alone) what would you buy? A new book.
Are there words you live by? What are they? Not everything has to be done today! Some say that's procrastinating, and maybe it is, but I rarely miss a deadline--I may be finishing up a Halloween costume at 11:59pm Oct. 30, but it gets done!
Sum yourself up in 1 word: creative
