What is your first name? Jennifer...never Jen or Jenny, either, even as a child!
What are your kids’ names? Katie, Zachary, Emily, Riley, Abby, and MaryGrace
Were you ready for motherhood? Absolutely! I started at 18! I wanted babies...and lots of them...from the time I was a little girl.
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you? Right now, I can't think of just one person, but I do know that through the years, I have been very blessed to have a lot of people come and go in my life that held me up to be a better person...and a better Christian, which is very important to me.
Do you have any nervous habits? What are they? Ummm.....I bite my cuticles...and I eat!
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him? Yes, I did, and the second part of that is harder to answer! My first serious boyfriend....well, they hated him, but I am still not sure if they were right! Let's just say he and I did not walk down the same paths of life...but if we had, well, I would like to think they were in the wrong! Also, the only other "love of my life" besides dh, they did not like. Flat out, though, they were wrong on him.
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you? I want them to remember how very much I loved them...and how as much as I loved them, I taught them that God loves them even more.
What did you learn the most from your mother? I think my nuturing and giving and giving of myself until I forget about ME, is from my mom. She has always been someone I looked up to. She gives of herself constantly..in both big and little ways...and I try to do the same.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip? Well, I am not that great at them lately! I hope to get back to couponing after the holidays! Besides those, though, I do shop at Aldi's for the majority of my groceries before moving on to WalMart or Kroeger. I also never take the kids or dh with me, if I can at all avoid it...or it costs a lot more!
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here? I am not exactly sure. I have a friend who subscribes to Gymboree news letters, and she used to forward them on to me. I think one of those mentioned this board...and once I clicked on it, I was hooked! I HAVE referred one person here...who was a regular member for a while, but she isn't anymore. She came to my garage sale one day where I told her about this site!!! I talk about the site a lot, too, but I don't give out the name specifically..cause this is something that is just MINE!!! With six kids, that is rare!
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice?
You know, right now, with Christmas here, seeing how all the mommies banded together to reach out to a few who have had some rough times lately....well, that has just been the biggest blessing to me. I am PROUD to know all of you. Besides that, I have to say a big thanks to Kim for all her WONDERFUL Christmas deals!
Have you ever met a mommysaver? Yes, although neither of the two I have met are on the board anymore. I have plans to meet abbysmommy THIS WEEK!!!
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you? For Valentines one year, he gave me a bracelet with two hearts, signifying the two of us..and four leaves of different gold tones, signifying our four children. It was romantic because, at the time, we only had THREE children...and this was his way of saying he was agreeing to having a fourth...something he knew I wanted very very much!!! To go even further with the story, though, he had to go through some major micro-surgery to have a vasectomy reversed in order for me to have Riley....who ended up to be Abby and MaryGrace, too! THAT is love.
Tell us five things you like about yourself.
1. Right now, I love my hair...funny thing to say, but I am so loving that it is growing out finally!
2. I like that I am a stay at home mom..it was worth all the sacrifices.
3. I like that I am a CHRISTIAN mom. Knowing that my children are being raised to follow Christ...and will, hopefully, follow me to heaven one day, is a powerful thing.
4. I like that I have the ability to listen..that people come to me because of it..and that sometimes I can give advice, but mostly I can give a shoulder.
5. I like that I teach 2 and 3 year olds in choir. I love how they look up at me with love and almost "awe" when I pass them in other places...and that is a huge responsibility, too! Teaching them to sing basic songs, whether it is childhood fun ones or basic Bible ones...is something they will carry for life.
What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work? I love scrapbooking and card making. I use the same supplies for both...so I count them as one! I got started scrapbooking on my own, I think...but abbysmommy started me on the card making. I can't believe how unsure of it I was at first...cause now I am addicted!!! I think I am pretty good at it. I am not the best, by far, but I have sold over 20 sets, so that says something!!! I will post a link of one later...but the last 15 sets or so, I have been too busy working on them to actually photo them, too! I'll also look to see if I can find a photo of a scrapbook page.
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait? A few...but not too many. I guess whether he was worth it or not would depend on what area of life you were asking about. He is a really good provider, believes in the same Christian values I do, lets me do pretty much what I want (!), and is a good father to our children. If you are asking is he the love of my life, the mushy stuff....well, no, he isn't. What I thought was a rough "patch" in that area years ago, just has never quite fixed itself. He is my partner in life, though...what I chose...and I am content.
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert? I like country music best, followed by anything romantic (read 80's music here!!!!) I don't know of an absolute favorite group. I have seen a few in concert...Reba McEntire, Toby Keith, a few others...but not any of the groups like Rascal Flatts, etc.
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world.
1. I want to do the best that I can to make sure all of my children are born again believers. So far, I have seen three of the six baptized....SO cool to see.
2. I want to feel, for just one week, maybe even less, that over the moon feeling of being in love....and being loved in return. (and would really like that to be with dh!!!)
3. I would love to travel some...I don't even care where. I just want to go...roam around and SEE the things I have missed so far!!
Which room in your house best reflects your personality? Oh my....my house stays so cluttered, no matter how hard I try. I sure don't want THAT to be a reflection of me!! I guess I would have to say my living room. I have tried to make it a more grown up room of the house. Yes, it is child friendly, but I try to keep toys and "stuff" out of it....and it is full of furniture I bought new..no hand me downs, garage sales, or goodwill! I guess all the other rooms are the ones that really do reflect me..but this is the one I would want to be like...child friendly but not used up!!!
What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose?
I think my kids are going to grow up to be good parents. They are all so good about having so many brothers and sisters...always looking out for each other, etc. I don't know what career paths they might choose yet, but I do think that they will be happy in life...cause they have learned early on that even when times are tough, jobs are lost, whatever, happiness comes from within...and family means everything.
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!) Some of you know, some don't, that I am a vegetarian. Not weird, but a quirk..but those around me definitely know about it. Ummm.....I guess not a lot know that I am extremely self consious. I talk to myself in my head all the time...trying to get through things...telling myself that I am good enough, too! You all on the board know SO many more of my secrets than those around here do!!!
Are there words you live by? What are they? Well, my motto around here is, like I have permanently posted below..."Cleaning house where children are growing is like shoveling snow while it's still snowing!!" . Also, I love the saying, "With God, ALL things are possible". I can't imagine not having that asssurance in my life.
