MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. What is your first name? Amanda
What are your kids’ names? Landon Reed-7 and Hannah Gabrielle-3
Were you ready for motherhood? I wasn’t ready at all for either pregnancy. I won’t say they were mistakes but they definitely were not planned.
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you?
My grandmother was/is my inspiration. The reason I say was is because she died when I was 18. She battled Cancer for several years but never gave up hope. To this day no matter what trials I go through I think of her because no matter what she lived every day as if it were her last.
Do you have any nervous habits? What are they? I bite my fingernails constantly. I wish I could stop but nothing has EVER helped.
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him? Every guy that I dated was never good enough. My ex hubby was really not one of their favorites for multiple reasons. YES THEY WERE SO RIGHT, and that is why he is an ex. Can’t imagine why I was so clueless!!!
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you? That no matter what life throws at you, don’t let it get you down. There are always greener pastures on the other side. We all have to go through trials and tribulation and we have to take them one at a time.
What did you learn the most from your mother? My mother taught me that you don’t have to have the best in life to survive. You don’t have to be rich to be happy. As long as you have your family that is all that matters.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip? I use probably 20-30 coupons per month. My best money saving tip is to buy clothes for kids at garage sales or second hand stores. Kids could care less if it is made by Ralph Lauren. CLIP CLIP CLIP coupons for groceries and any other items you can find.
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here? I signed up for the mommysavers newsletter about 5 years ago but never really got involved with the discussion boards until about 6 months ago. This is the best site EVER!!!
Have you ever met a mommysaver? Not yet, but look forward to meeting someone one day!!
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you? When I moved to Colorado, we went out to Estes Park and rented a cabin for Valentines Day. It was perfect in every way. We had a view of Elk right in front of us eating from the trees while it was snowing. We had a fire in the fireplace. This was about 5 years ago and I have to say we don’t do romantic a lot!!! He is not one to be romantic!!!
Tell us five things you like about yourself. I would have to say that I like my hair. I like that I think of others before myself. I like my legs!!! I can’t think of much more. I need lots of improvement!!
What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work? I don’t really have any hobbies except for hunting for bargains. I have worked 12-13 hour shifts the past year so it is really hard to keep up a hobby. Last year I started to get into scrap booking and did my mother and Mil one for Christmas. They turned out great, but I do not have pics of them. I can’t seem to find anything that holds my attention for long.
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait? I kissed 2 and still am wondering if I got Mr. Right!!!LOL!!
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert? I have two that I go back and forth between. I like Pop Christian and I like Pop. My favorite Pop group is Nickelback and my favorite Christian group is Third Day. I have seen Third Day 3 times. I think they are phenomenal. Good thing about their concerts are they are free most of the time.
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world.
I would like to go back to college. I would definitely like to go back and meet with old friends from my hometown. Find a career that makes me happy!!
Which room in your house best reflects your personality? Living Room because I put that one together recently. We had to use garage sale furniture for a while. We were finally able to afford decent furniture so I changed it to what I feel is more cozy and simple. I am pretty simple.
What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose? I hope they don’t take paths that I have chosen. I hope they go to college and FINISH. If I had to decide what my son would be right now it would be a chef. I am not quite sure what my daughter would want to be. Except a ballerina!!! She’s 3 so it is hard to tell!!
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!) I would say that I am a bad cook but my husband already knows that!!! I am not sure there is a quirk that no one close to me knows about. My husband knows I think everything that is weird about me!!!
Are there words you live by? What are they? Mine are the famous words “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”
