**Disclaimer**
MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please PM Christy_K_ and we will get you signed up.
What is your first name? Jessika
What are your kids’ names? Jackson, 5 and Ian, 19 months
Were you ready for motherhood?
NO! I was in the middle of planning my wedding when we found out I was pregnant.
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you?
Yes, there is a lady in my MOPS group who always makes me want to be a better person. Her name is Cindi and I think God definitely meant for her to be in my life. I first met her at my prenatal classes before I had first DS - she was the instructor; then she was the leader of the mommy & me group for new moms after first DS was born. She's been a MOPS mentor mom for most of my time there. Like I said, I think she's meant to be in my life because she's just always somewhere, somehow involved.
Do you have any nervous habits? What are they?
Umm, yeah. I can outcuss a sailor at times.
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him?
I can't really remember anyone.
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you?
I would like them to remember that I love them first and foremost. I would also like them to remember how hard I've worked to make sure they had "good" lives.
What did you learn the most from your mother?
I love my mom but honestly the only things she has really taught me was what not to do... don't drink, don't do drugs, don't be promiscuous. Touchy subject.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip? On a good day? Probably between 30-40. Best money saving tip? ALWAYS shop the thrift stores first. Today I found 10 rolls of ribbon that I'll use for scrapbooking for about $0.40 each.
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here?
I found the site by googling "free baby stuff" when oldest DS was an infant. I've told a couple people about it.
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice?
I think I've benefitted from the site in general. It gives me a sense of togetherness with other moms that I don't get at home. I'm by nature a shy, introverted person so I don't have many close friends and the discussion boards seem to bypass that introverted part of me.
Have you ever met a mommysaver?
Not that I'm aware of.
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you?
He sent a dozen roses to my work on my birthday the first year we were together. Now, if I could just get him to remember that phone number.. Oh, well, the cats would eat the flowers anyway.
Tell us five things you like about yourself.
1. I consider myself both selfish and generous.
2. I would be a professional student if I could afford it.
3. I collect frogs.
4. If we have anymore children, I want another boy. I don't want a little girl.
5. I used to be addicted to watching professional wrestling. Please note the word
"used to" in that sentence.
What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work?
I enjoy scrapbooking and paper crafting. My friend Dave got me started on it. We went to nursing school together and he asked me to come to his wife's open house when she started selling Stampin' Up products. I went with the intention to make a polite $10 order and walked away with $75 worth of products. I think my skill level is intermediate at the moment and I would show you my work if I could ever get around to setting up a photo bucket account.
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait?
I'd say two that could have ended up serious. Oh, yeah, he was definitely worth the wait!
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert?
I like all music. My favorite artists though are Ozzy, Aerosmith, and Sawyer Brown and yes I've seen them all in concert.
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world
1. I want to see my children through college with a 4year degree or beyond.
2. I want to finish my own school; that bachelor's looks so far off right now.
3. I would like to resolve my issues with my mother.
Which room in your house best reflects your personality?
The family room. It has a little bit of everything in it, the computer, the tv, my craft area, DH guitars, kids toys, cat toys. You name it, you can probably find it here.
What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose?
I want to see them successful; whatever that means to them. I'm not going to fathom a guess at career path because right now oldest DS has on his resume: doctor, dentist, firefighter, and superhero. I just hope he gets lots and lots of scholarships!
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!)
I can't sit still and enjoy anything if my house is messy. I have to clean it up even if it's midnight and I just got home from work. Sorry, can't think of anything better.
Are there words you live by? What are they?
I try to live by the Golden Rule: do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
I think it's a good rule.
