**Disclaimer**

MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please PM Christy_K_ and we will get you signed up.

Let’s get started!!!

What is your first name? Heather

What are your kids’ names? Bentley and Baylee

Were you ready for motherhood? Once I heard the heartbeat for the first time. . . oh yeah! Does that mean I wasn't scared to death? nope- still am at times, but I love motherhood.

Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you?
There are several people that truly admire, but probably my grandmother most of all. She always opened her home to those that needed a meal or a prayer. There are so many people in her community that she brought to church and ultimately to Christ through love, not preaching. She was always kind, always loving, never lied and no matter how tough the road kept her faith in God. When she died, there was such a mass of people who had been impacted by her in some way or another. She loved people of all shapes sizes, colors, ages, and abilities. If I can touch just half the lives that she did I will be a happy woman.

Do you have any nervous habits? What are they?
I bite my nails

Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him? Yes and yes!! He was one of my first boyfriends and such a loser!!! I was so blinded that I didn't se what a jerk and spoiled child he was. Thank goodness he moved away before we got too serious or I'd have been seriously corrupted (or still locked in my room by my parents!!)

What do you want your kids to remember the most about you? I want them to remember that I was always there when they needed me, that I had time to read a story, snuggle or play a game. I hope they remember that our house may not always have been the biggest, best or cleanest, but it has always been filled to the brim with love and laughter.

What did you learn the most from your mother? I have learned so much from my mom- how to love love, faith, strength. My mom is one of those women you just gravitate towards- she is always smiling, always doing a good deed, always calling when you need it most. She has really taught me how to love, not just when people are loveable, but at all times

How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip? I use coupons all the time- probably 30 a shopping trip. My best money saving tip would be to plan ahead and make a list, then stick to it anytime you go to the store.

How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here? I was lucky enough to stumble across it about 2 years ago when doing a random search for something or other regarding baby advice. It was an old format and so hard to navigate since everything was just listed out on the same page. Love this new board!! I have told some people about it, but honestly I've been kind of selfish about it to some that could probably use it. I like that this is a somewhat anonymous board and I can vent without judgement. If I told my neighbors about this site they could/would totally use it, but would know way too much about my personal life for me to be comfortable with it right now. I share the deals, but haven't given them the exact website. . .yet

Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice?
There has been so much great advice here it would be hard to pinpoint the "best". I can say that what I have loved the most is the spirit of community that I see between the women and those are the stories that inspire me the most. I love that there are so many on here that rally behind a friend in need- whether that need be physical, emotional or financial. Where else will you find women sending anonymous cards and gift cards to a mom needing a little financial boost, prayers for a sick child you've never met, diapers and clothes to the mom who can't quite make it on her own one month, a toddler bed sent to a little princess who is ready to move out of her crib. Where else could a stuffed Eeyore bring dozens of women to tears? These are the stories that inspire me to try and be a better mom, wife and friend.

Have you ever met a mommysaver? No, but I would love too!! So, anyone coming near Charleston let me know!

What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you? This will tell you where our lives have been lately, but when the 5th Harry Potter book came out, he snuck out of the house at midnight, made me breakfast the next morning and took DD all day so I could spend that entire day reading. he did all the chores, cleaning cooking so I wouldn't have to interrupt my reading. That was the best gift ever!! How I love that man!

Tell us five things that you like about yourself.
I smile a lot
I'm friendly to everyone (well, at least I try to be)
I'm smartish
I like my body
I am a loyal friend

What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work?
Favorite hobby would be reading. Favorite craft is scrapbooking/card making, but I suck at it. I have to borrow ideas from other mommysavers- there are some really talented women on board!!

How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait? Way too many frogs crossed my path!! Dh is so worth it - even on his worst day he is 100% better than many of the husbands I know

What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert?
Right now it would be anything that is not Disney, Wiggles, or Veggie Tales! I like all sorts of music from Christian Contemporary to House music, it all just depends on my mood and whether I need something to dance to, run to, or relax to

List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world
1. Go to Australia w/ DH
2. Mission trip to a 3rd world country
3. Hike the entire Appalachian trail

Which room in your house best reflects your personality? Our bedroom- filled to the brim with books, photos. The rest of the house is less cluttered (except with kids toys), so I love kicking off my shoes, jumping into my papasan chair, staring out the window or reading a book surrounded by things I love

What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose?
If I had to guess from their little personalities, my oldest would be a dancer/actor (hopefully by then she'll agree to wearing clothes as right now we fight to keep them on!) She is so musical, loves to sing, dance, act out stories she makes up

My baby is going to be a shrink or a vet. She sits and listens and always wants to make things better. And loves animals!

Really, though, I hope the girls find their passion and go for it. I will always love them and support them to the best of my ability. I don't want them to be held back by any social pressure or that innate desire to do what you think your family wants you to do. I just hope I can encourage them to find their dreams and help them find a path toward achieving them

Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!) Right after college I worked for a pharmaceutical company and "borrowed" a bunch of baby rats from time to time that were scheduled for euthanasia. They made great pets, but I only told my best friend about them. I just couldn't stand to see them put down- they were cute- not like house rats!!

Are there words you live by? What are they?
"Do unto others" and "This too shall pass" I try really hard to be a good wife, friend and mother and also remember that time does go by quickly. Dirty diapers, sleepless nights, baby smiles - all will fade into memories all too quickly. I'm going to try not to swell on the bad and if I get a chance to dance in the warm rain with my girls- I'm going to do it!

Congrats on being Mom of the Week. You live in the most beautiful place in the World (at least in my eyes). I would love to live there and hope to visit again soon. You sound like a very down to earth, sweet person. I enjoyed getting to know you better.

Thanks for participating! This was a pleasure getting to know you better!

I especially loved reading your thoughts about the members on the board. It bears repeating:

I can say that what I have loved the most is the spirit of community that I see between the women and those are the stories that inspire me the most. I love that there are so many on here that rally behind a friend in need- whether that need be physical, emotional or financial. Where else could a stuffed Eeyore bring dozens of women to tears? These are the stories that inspire me to try and be a better mom, wife and friend.

That is so nice to hear...and I think everyone can take a piece of that away with them!!
