**Disclaimer**
MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please PM Christy_K_ and we will get you signed up.
Let’s get started!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEK TOO ALEXS_MOMMY!
What is your first name? Sandy
What are your kids’ names? Alex
Were you ready for motherhood?
I don’t think anyone can be fully ready for motherhood, but you take things one day at a time and hope for the best.
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you?
Yes, it’s my now husband. We met online and finally met in person about a month later, since then we have been in-separatable. He just has a way of telling and giving great advice. Probably because he is 10 yrs older than me (Older and wiser)
Do you have any nervous habits? What are they? I start filing my nails / picking at them.
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him? Of course.
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you? How much I love him and the memories of all the places we visited.
What did you learn the most from your mother? How to clean, clean, clean.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip?
I use coupons a lot, I keep them all clipped together in my purse. Ill stop and flip through them before I go shopping.
Best money saving tip…sign up with your favorite restaurants and they will send you coupons (usually by email) especially for your birthday! I just got an email from the Black Angus Steakhouse, a free dinner (b1g1) max value $20!
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here?
I forgot how I ran into this website, it was many years ago. Probably back in 2000 or so. I’ve told a few of my friends at work about it, but they’re not as dedicated as I am. J
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice?
I’ve received lots of great advice from all the mommies on the board. I ask a question – I get great answers / advice. Can’t recall some of my questions, but I know at the time they have helped!
Have you ever met a mommysaver? No I haven’t.
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you?
After being a couple (bf / gf) for only 5 months, for Chris tmas he bought me a white gold diamond heart pendant! Boy was I surprised.
Tell us five things you like about yourself.
Personality, adventurous, creative, helpful & prompt
What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work?
I don’t have 1 particular hobby, but I do like to do creative things with pictures. For example I did a Las Vegas collage of when Steve & I first went in ‘06. I went to Michael s Craft Store and got a panoramic photo frame, while he was in Iowa visiting his mom, I made it – came out great.
Also I did a shadow box for my son’s firsts (socks, rattle, binky, shoes, put some of his hair in a small bag and a small photo of him in it)
Id love to attach photos, but I’m at work, Ill have to remember to do that when I get home today.
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait?
At least 10, of course it was worth the wait, but who would have known? Plus you have to test drive cars before you find the right one J
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert?
I like pop/some rap music. Favorite group...hmm, Id have to say Greenday. (My son absolutely loves them) I listened to a lot of their music and it’s pretty good. No have not seen them in concert, would like to take my son – when he’s at least 16.
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world
1. More traveling (anywhere in the US )
2. Buy a home
3. Get healthier (could loose some weight)
Which room in your house best reflects your personality?
Has to be the living room, with all my knickknacks. I love precious moment’s figures and like Egypt (yes weird combo) so there’s a few of those figures on a shelf and on the tv table.
What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose?
My son is into science (just like me) He’s in the first grade and is excited to do a science project even though he is not required to do so. He also like to idolize Billy Joe from Greenday and make his hair into a mohawk and dress all in black and play his guitar (well he is learning to play the guitar so now it’s just a lot of noise)
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!)
Everyone that’s close to me knows my quirks. Dh knows how particular I am about have a clean, tidy home. (Cant stand clutter or filth)
I also like to save money by using coupons, drives dh nuts and laughs about it. But I just tell him that it’s better than paying full price. He always agrees.
Are there words you live by? What are they?
Always look for a way to save money.
For example I’m planning a trip for hubby, my son and I to take a trip to San Diego . I placed a want ad in the San Diego ’s Craig slist for anyone with coupons for attractions for that area. They emailed me and I gave them my address and then I received the coupons for the zoo, Lego land, Wild Animal Park , etc…(Someone from the board told me to look on Craig slist / Freecycle for such coupons)
