**Disclaimer**
MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please
PM Christy_K_ and we will get you signed up.
Let’s get started!!!
What is your first name? Erin
What are your kids’ names? Quentin (4) & Ian (almost 15 months)
Were you ready for motherhood? Yes
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you?
I had a friend & co-worker when we lived in AZ who is one of the best women that I've ever met. She is one of the kindest people I've ever met, and was always thinking of helping others. Even in the middle of a huge personal tragedy, she continued to think of others before herself. She definitely inspired me to try to be more like her in thinking more of how to help others & be more generous.
Do you have any nervous habits? What are they? I bounce my leg (which drives my DH nuts).
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him? My first "real" boyfriend I started dating when I was 16. He was 20, out of school (dropped out about 2 weeks before he would have graduated), and ran with the "bad" crowd in town. We ended up dating for 4 years, and he really cleaned up his act while he was dating me. We started our relationship in secret, but in a small town you can't keep a secret like that for very long. My parents were not happy at first, but once they got to know him they ended up liking him too. We broke up when I was in college, and it was for the best.
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you? How much I love them, no matter what.
What did you learn the most from your mother? A love of reading, learning, and cooking.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip? I tend to cut out coupons & then either lose them or forget them, so not many. My best money saving tip is to use the library -- we save a lot of money by not having to buy books, magazines, or rent DVDs.
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here? It was mentioned in a magazine article that I read a long time ago (I've been a member for the past 3-4 boards).
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice? I don't remember any specific members, but I love all the money saving advice. I hadn't heard of looking for coupon codes before Mommysavers, and now I can't imagine buying anything online without looking for one first!
Have you ever met a mommysaver? No, but I'd like to.
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you? He's not a real romantic guy, but does bring me flowers or chocolate just out of the blue sometimes.
Tell us five things you like about yourself. I'm organized (although you couldn't tell it most times by looking at my house -- it is organized chaos), intelligent, a good cook, funny, and I like my eyes.
What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work? I like to cook & am pretty good at it (no pictures though). I just started making beaded jewelry, but am not that great yet. I don't have any pictures of anything I've made.
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait? Not too many. Yes, DH was definitely worth the wait.
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert? I listen to pretty much everything (rock, country, alternative, classical -- no rap or hip hop, though). My favorite group is probably still REM (but I like their older stuff, and haven't even heard the latest CDs). I saw them twice (once in high school & once in college).
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world. I want to go to Egypt to see the pyramids and all the archaeological sites, I'd like to learn to scuba dive, and I would like to learn to dance (like swing or ballroom, something like that).
Which room in your house best reflects your personality? Our house is over 100 years old & a big work in progress. Our bedroom is probably the closest to my personality right now. It is a light green with purple accents -- nice and calm and relaxing.
What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose? It is hard to tell right now. I just hope that they grow up healthy & happy and find something that they love to do. Quentin is really intelligent, inquisitive, & artistic; Ian so far is more into the running, throwing, climbing side of things.
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!) I have to have my hair covering my ears when I sleep (this comes from me getting an ear ache one time when I slept in a hotel room where there was a vent right over my bed that blew cold air in my ear all night).
Are there words you live by? What are they? I've always liked the phrase "Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty", and try to live my life that way.
