Behind every good man, stands an incredible woman, and ladies, here she is!!
**Disclaimer**
MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please
PM Christy_K_ and we will get you signed up.
Let’s get started!!!
What is your first name? Martha
What are your kids’ names? Caitlyn Rachele, Jacob Ray, Skylan Nacole and Sarah Abigail...I only got to choose the last one since I kept the first three's names when I adopted them.
Were you ready for motherhood? Is that possible? Is anyone really ever totally ready for motherhood?? I was as ready as I could be...I love being a Mom!
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you? Two...My Mother first and foremost. I have seen her struggle most of my life but she always finds a way to give God praise for all that He does for her. Second, a man we attend church with. He has been in the final stages of cancer for a very long time now and he continues to fight. He drives a dozer for a large construction company and he STILL gets up every day and goes to work. He inspires me to keep going even when I think I can't.
Do you have any nervous habits? What are they? I tend to get snippy with people when I'm nervous or worried about something.
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him? I married a guy the first time that my parents liked but I think my Dad knew in his heart that our marriage would never work. However, he never said a word and let me make my own decisions. (Now I wish he'd have spoken up!!

)
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you? I hope they always remember my faith in God and that I tried my very best to be a good Mom.
What did you learn the most from your mother? Perserverance
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip? I don't normally shop in places that accept coupons (I usually go to discount grocery stores) so I really don't use any on a regular basis. My best money saving tip...stay at home!!!

Really, I don't get out unless I have errands to run or we're going to church. I also try to save them all for one or two days so that my day is so full I don't find myself roaming around town just looking in stores.
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here? A friend kept sending me the bargain alerts...so I eventually wandered on into the website and then on into the discussion forums. Yes, I referred my cousin here (KyNana)
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice? There's too much that I've learned to even start listing it!! I've certainly benfited from the friendships made and the support given to me in some of the most difficult times of my life.
Have you ever met a mommysaver? Yes, one...and there are others I hope to meet someday.
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you? He planned an overnight birthday getaway for me (babysitters, lodging, activities and all!). He took me to a historical town a couple of hours away and to the hotel first where I found flowers waiting in our room. Then we got dressed in nice clothes and a horse drawn carriage picked us up at the hotel and took us to a dinner train. We had dinner on the train and when we returned, the horse drawn carriage took us on a tour of the town giving us some details of the historical sites and then back to our hotel.
Tell us five things you like about yourself.
I'm creative,
I'm a dedicated wife,
I'm a dedicated mother,
I'm good at improvising,
I'm a great listener
What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work? Probably paper crafting (card making and scrapbooking). I'm no professional, but I do ok. My favorite scrapbooking page:
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait? Only three and one of those was the toad I married the first time! Yes, he was very much worth the wait.
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert? Country and Southern Gospel...favorite group in country (currently) is Emerson Drive and I sort of saw them in concert. I got to see them perform a couple of songs at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. Favorite group in Southern Gospel is Gold City and I've never seen them in concert.
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world.
I want to visit a foreign country,
I want to go on a cruise with my dh and
I want to see my children grown and living successful lives.
Which room in your house best reflects your personality? Hmmm...probably my bedroom. No room REALLY reflects it...my house is just too small at this time!
What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose? Hmm...I see Catie doing something where she can talk alot...she's a real talker! I see Jacob doing something with computers, he loves computers. I see Skylan doing something where she can help others...she likes to reach out to others. I'm not sure about Abby yet, she's still too little to predict.
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind of quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!) I honestly can't think of anything.
Are there words you live by? What are they? I TRY to live by, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." It doesn't always happen, but I try!!
