**Disclaimer**
MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please PM Christy_K_ and we will get you signed up.

Let’s get started!!!

What is your first name? Kelly

What are your kids’ names? I never tell on-line (but I will tell you that they have very Italian names and very blonde heads....go figure lol)

Were you ready for motherhood? Finally, yes. I never wanted to be a mom. I was an only child and had no experience with children except to see the occasional out burst of naughty ones. I just couldn't see the appeal. After we had been married for a few years, my mind started to change. We took the "if it happens it happens" approach. Two years later I had my oldest. What an amazing thing!!!!!!!! I held him on my lap, on top of a pillow (I had a c-section) for over a month, I swear. I never moved, I just sat and looked at how beautiful he was. It has been the most life changing wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. I am truly bless to have these to little men in my life.

Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you? Yes, my husband. He is the most gentle soul that I have ever met. He just beams kindness and people are drawn to him. This can be both good and bad, but it is something that I admire greatly. My husband is one that doesn't have to get the last word or sometimes even say one. This was not me at all when we met. I thought I needed to tell people what was on my mind, sometimes regardless of the consequences. I have learned from my husband that sometimes quiet is better and that sometimes things just work out if you let them be. His motto has always been, "never burn a bridge." It's a good one.

Do you have any nervous habits? What are they? Yes, I twiddle, fidget and slouch when I am nervous. I have to remind myself when I am at interviews or talking to someone that I don't want to look like a complete dork in front of to sit up straight and hold still otherwise I think I would end up being a little pile in the chair.

Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him? Funny thing, they usually like the awful ones and didn't like the nice ones. It must have been because the bad ones had a better line of ****. They hated my husband. I met him when I was still dating me ex sort of, we were kind of broken up (on off thing). So, my dh was perceived as the villain. He played in a band, had long hair and an ear ring (and the tightest little pants I have ever seen <blush>)

What do you want your kids to remember the most about you? That we love them and would move mountains for them.

What did you learn the most from your mother? That you can make it on your own if you have too. My dad took such good care of us. He was/is my hero and protector. When we lost him, our lives were so broken and empty. I was here with my husband and my son, but my mom was alone. She has learned to do everything by herself and now she is the bravest person I know (and my best friend).

How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip? Not many coupons. I am a weird shopper/health nut. I will reach over the sale broccoli and spend a fortune on the organic one, same w/ just about everything at the grocery store. The thing is my grocery budget didn't change much when I started doing this. I gave up meat after doing some research on it. We really don't miss it so that portion of my grocery budget goes for the good stuff. We are always satisfied and I feel better feeding it to my family and it's fun researching my new way of cooking.

How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here? I don't remember how exactly I found Mommysavers. I was probably doing a money saving search and tripped over it. I have been here for a very long time. Admittedly, I have tried to stomp away a time or two after spat, probably on a full moon or a pms week. But, I can't leave, it's my second home and I love you guys.

Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice? There are so many!!!!! Jeannette, Karen, and Dessertmom have helped walk me through this very difficult time with my son and getting him diagnosed for ADHD and I will be forever grateful. Kellytime has become a wonderful friend, we have so much in common it's scary. Aliadam and I have had our quarrels, but more times than not, we actually agree on things (other than politics). I miss Kemtee and Annemc something terrible. There are so many of you that I talk with on here all the time that really mean so very much to me, I couldn't possibly list all of you, but please know that I count you as my friends.

Have you ever met a mommysaver? no. I am pretty apprehensive about meeting people, but it sure would be fun.

What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you? Honestly, it was just last weekend. He was playing out and talking with some of his fans about the band breaking up (we are counting down the days..yeah!) One of the girls started putting me down, "Oh is it your wife that's making you quit" (snotty tone). She went on to say some other things and he said, "No. It's my decision and don't ever talk about the mother of my children that way again." I could have cried when he told me that. No one has ever stuck up for me like that before.

Tell us five things you like about yourself.

I would do anything for my family.
I am very loyal to people that are loyal to me.
I care very deeply for animals.
"Things" don't make me happy.
I like being 40! I finally figure out who I am and I'm pretty darn okay.

What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work? I never really have hobbies, I have things I like to do for awhile. I can be pretty crafty, but I don't like doing things more than once, so my projects tend to be one of a kind items. I've turned out to be a pretty good artist/painter. My prize piece is my boys room. When my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, I was so terrified that I had to put my mind somewhere else. I spent hours painting the walls and dressers of my kids room. It looks like you are walking outside when you walk in there. I love it.

How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait? Lots of frogs. My husband was absolutely worth the wait.

What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert? I really like lots of kinds of music. I don't have a favorite group, but I like older groups like the Allman bros., Dr. John, BB King, Buddy Guy.... I've seen all of those in concert and quite a few more.

List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world

I would like to make the difference in the lives of animals in a big way. I keep telling myself to remember the story of the star fish, but it's hard. The story goes: There was a man walking on the beach that was covered in stranded starfish. He saw a child throwing the starfish back into the ocean one by one. He said to the child, "You can't save them all." The boy answered, "I know, but I can save this one" as he tossed it back to the ocean. More and more people saw the boy and his efforts and each one helped the starfish one by one until the beach was clear and the star fish were all safe in the ocean.

I would like to live a life that my children can look up to, be proud of, and learn by. I want to live do as little harm to the environment, to people and animals as possible. I would like to be a part of the movement to end factory farming, overuse of pesticides and chemicals that are hurting our kids, ruining our oceans and the very air we breath. We need to be accountable for this and let the people who can change these things know how we feel.

That's only two, but they keep me pretty busy.

Which room in your house best reflects your personality?
I have two. My kitchen and my kids room. The kitchen is done in harvest colors. It's very earthy. My kids room is a reflection of me because I put my heart and soul into it.

What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose?

My oldest reminds me so much of me and my dad honestly. He is compassionate. I can see him going into a career where he can help people or animals. He wants to be a hero (just like his grandpa). My dad was a fireman, later the county emergency management coordinator. He also has his dad's musical talent in there. You've all heard me brag about his perfect pitch. It's a pretty awesome thing.

My youngest is a computer wiz. At the age of 4 he got to the end of a Pac Man game. I didn't even know there was a screen that said, "You Win." I see him doing something in the computer type field. He is very smart.

Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!) Well, I am quirky, no hiding that! But, I'm also an open book and I can't think of one thing that I haven't spilled the beans about.

Are there words you live by? What are they? "There's no place like home...."

Thanks for sharing. I have not seen somebody who liked the Allman Bros. in awhile. Even in the 90s, when I lived in Macon, they were STILL huge there. I guess the hometown boys thing. One of the first places I was shown was the grave of the one who died and his bandmade in motorcycle accidents. People just hung out there playing guitars and putting pennies on his grave. Never did understand that.
