**Disclaimer**
MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please
PM Christy_K_ and we will get you signed up.
Please note: MOTW will not be featured from
August 4th-August 20th.
What is your first name?
Susannah
What are your kidsʼ names?
Caitlin (10.5), William (almost 9), Aaron (6) & Evan (5)
Were you ready for motherhood?
I didn't think I was, but once I had Caitlin my whole life was changed forever. I always wondered how I was deserving of such a precious gift.
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you?
I think the people I have met that have inspired me to be a better person are my kids. I strive to be a good example by being respectful, creative, giving and fun. Other than that my Mom shows me that I can have anything I set my mind to, for that I am grateful. She is the reason I have a college degree; no one can ever take that accomplishment or the feeling of pride from me.
Do you have any nervous habits? What are they?
Does drinking wine count?
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him?
Of course I have and of course she was right!
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you?
I want the to remember that they are truly the loves of my life and that I am so very proud of all they have accomplished.
What did you learn the most from your mother?
Perseverance - No matter what life throws your way, if you persevere, you can accomplish anything and that a little bit of manners go a very long way.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip?
I used to, but got out of the habit. I don't buy much of anything unless it's on sale. Clearance prices...even better! Even my kids know that if it doesn't have a sale tag, don't even bother asking for it.
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here?
I found MommySavers in 2002 while suffering insomnia when I was pregnant with Evan. JuliaGulia121 is on the forum, she's my Mom & best friend!
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice?
I have benefited greatly from the bonds of friendship that I have with several people at MommySavers. They have gotten me through some rough times, most recently a relocation away from my entire family. Many have offered support when dealing with different illnesses with family members. Most importantly, the power of prayer through MommySavers is one incredible power. It is truly a gift that when we all ban together works in magical ways. To name names, I wouldn't know where to begin, there are so many that have touched my life.
Have you ever met a mommysaver?
Yep, last summer I met Memz. I don't think she's here much anymore, but I got to meet her & 2 adorable kids.
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you?
He got Mom to watch the kids & didn't tell me where we were going. He took me out to dinner then on to a bigger surprise. He took me on a horse & buggie ride through downtown Cincinnati one Saturday night. It was pretty magical....and COLD!
Tell us five things you like about yourself.
I'm a good listener, my hair looks pretty good (had it colored Thursday!), I love that I am a SAHM, I am a loyal friend, I am creative.
What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work?
The hobby I enjoy the most is paper crafting. I like to make cards & scrap. I got started in 2000 through a Stamping Up party and have been hooked ever since. I also like to play with photography & I love to cook. Here's one of my favorite cards:
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait?
Too many.... 'Nough said! Yes, he was well worth the wait. He is a great husband and a wonderful father.
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert?
My favorite genre of music is whatever I am in the mood for. I am open to pretty much anything. I think it's funny when remake comes on the radio & I sing along and my kids look at me like I have 2 heads! "HOW did YOU know the words, Mom?" rofl! Martina McBride is probably one of my all time favorites; I have seen her in concert.
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world
To visit all the MLB ballparks
To see my grandchildren
To be in a position to do good for others, to have made a difference in the world
Which room in your house best reflects your personality?
My living room...it is earthy & calm with a splash of red on the walls! I think JeannetteDavis would approve ;-)
What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose?
I would like them to grow up being self-confident, giving people. As long as they are truly happy, I don't care what career path the choose.
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (Cʼmon tell us!!!!)
Hmmm, this one I will have to think about.
Are there words you live by? What are they
There are two.
Ninny Threadgoode: I found out what the secret to life is: friends. Best friends.
Aesop: No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
