MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. What is your first name? Alicia
What are your kids’ names? Aidan and Rori
Were you ready for motherhood? Yes, and no. I was 37 when I found out I was pregnant with Aidan and 38 when he was born. I knew my life was going to change, but just didn't know HOW much it would change. Then I found out I was pregnant with Rori, and 39 when she was born. They're 20 months apart. I'll let you do the math of how many months I was pregnant out of the last 3 years.
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? My children, plain and simple.
Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you? Probably the same way becoming a mother would affect any woman. In my younger days, I said "I'm never getting married and having children." And here I am turning 40 (9/6) and have two children under the age of two. Watching Aidan grow and learn new things just amazes me.
Do you have any nervous habits? Yes What are they? When my hair is long, I twirl it.
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Oh, yeh, in high school.
Were they right about him? Of course!
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you? How very much I loved them and cherished them.
What did you learn the most from your mother? That a mothers love is unconditional and she was right about everything I thought she was wrong about!
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? It all depends on what I need that I have a coupon for, probably anywhere from 5-10 per shopping trip. What is your best money saving tip? Go grocery shopping by myself!
How did you find Mommysavers? I had done a web search, I don't even remember what I was looking for, but Mommysavers popped up. Have you referred anyone here?Yes, but they never came. Were you referred here? No.
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? DH and I were having some problems and everyone was so supportive, it really helped me get through it.
And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice? No one in particular that I can remember.
Have you ever met a mommysaver? Not yet, although I've been close to meeting one!
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you? He bought me three rose bushes for Mother's Day this year, and he gave me a ring for Christmas with three hearts, one for him and the kids.
Tell us five things you like about yourself.
Oh wow, let's see. I'm a good listener, I love my family, hard worker, I have an independent streak a mile wide, and once I set my mind to something, I don't quit.
What hobby do you enjoy the most? Scrapbooking What got you started on it? I actually started doing a scrapbook for our wedding, and it just transformed from there. I put it off for a while, then started one for Aidan's first year when I found out I was pregnant, one book turned in to two because I made so many pages!
How would you rate yourself? Not an expert, but I'm pretty proud of what I do.
Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work? Sure. I've attached three of the pages I'm most proud of.
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Too many to count.
Was he worth the wait? At times I wonder, LOL. Yes, he was. We've had our rough spots, but I know he loves me and our children.
What is your favorite genre of music? Classic Rock Who is your favorite group? Eagles Have you ever seen them in concert? No, unfortunately.
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world.
Visit Chicago, again.
Finish documenting my family history.
See my fathers family, he passed away when I was 5 and we haven't had any contact with them since.
Which room in your house best reflects your personality? My kitchen.
What do you see your children growing up to be like? I hope they'll be caring, compassionate people who treat others as they would like to be treated. What career path would they choose?
I really have no idea. Whatever they do, I hope they are happy doing it.
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!) I'm kind of a boring person, I don't really have any that I know of! Sorry!
Are there words you live by? What are they? One day at a time....(nothing to do with the old tv show)
