**Disclaimer**
MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please
PM Christy_K_ and we will get you signed up.
What is your first name? Sharon
What are your kids’ names? Saige and Jaina, stepson is Jordan
Were you ready for motherhood?
So ready!! My "goal" was to be a mom before age 30, I had 3 miscarriages before my first dd was born so I was ready and waiting.
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person?
My best friend's mom and my former boss
Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you?
She was a healthcare provider, and did everything healthy possible. She treated the needy for free, giving expensive treatments and although she was taken advantage of often, she always had a positive outlook and never a negative attitude. She passed away 2 years ago and it was the saddest thing to see her die of cancer, but she died her way, staying home with her family until the end. She has definitely inspired me to be healthy and try to always be positive and help others when I can.
Do you have any nervous habits? What are they?
I was a nail biter for the longest time. Then I got my nails done for about 4 years and that kicked that habit. I do sneak a cigarette every now and then.
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him?
Oh yeah!! Quite a few and they were right everytime, but mom knew dh was the one for me.
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you?
How I always put their needs first and that they are the most important to me.
What did you learn the most from your mother?
How to put others before myself, be giving not taking.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip?
Not many coupons because I try to shop regularly at Aldi's. The best tip that works for me is to not go out and try to do the grocery shopping monthly instead of weekly. I can NOT go into a store and buy just milk. Oh and to make things from scratch such as muffins and snacks for the kids, so much more cost-effective!
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here?
I can't remember how I found it, I'm sure it must have been a link from somewhere. I signed up for the newsletter and loved getting a new recipe in it each week. This is the only DB I belong to (and it's changed 3x I think), I don't have time for any others! I don't refer anyone, it's my get away only, but I talk about it ALL the time saying "Well my mom's said this" or "My mom's think this". Dh will even tell me to go online and ask the moms what they think!
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice?
I think I'm benefitting most from the money saving ideas and great new recipes to try out, but I've also cherished the incredible support and non-negativism from everyone when I've had a major issue to deal with. It makes me sad when mom's are made to feel that they need to leave this DB, I try to stay out of the controversy. I also like sending my best friend some of the freebies, she loves getting them and it lets her know I'm thinking about her even though we don't talk every day. (I've known her for 30 years)
Have you ever met a mommysaver?
No but am in the works of planning a meeting w/KelseynThomasMom right now
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you?
a bubble bath w/tons of candles
Tell us five things you like about yourself.
My patience, hair (sometimes), my ability to make people feel comfortable (like my patients at work), my cheerfulness (even when I'm down inside) , my ability to multi-task at home and work, I'm often complimented on it.
What hobby do you enjoy the most? Gardening
What got you started on it? Wanting my family to eat healthy, chemical free food, oh and my dad, he's so proud of my garden, he always had a huge garden when I was growing up.
How would you rate yourself? Not bad, but much room for improvement, I hate weeding and can never keep up with it.
Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work? I can't but I've got tons of fresh veg and lots of tomato sauce now! Oh but here's a picture of my dd and our watermelon!
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right?
TONS! I had a new boyfriend every month, either they lived too far away or they were major jerks.
Was he worth the wait? We were together for 10 years before getting married, I think that was a long wait! But glad because I wouldn't have had my 2 beautiful children.
What is your favorite genre of music?
I like the party channel on tv, it plays alot of 70's/80's dance music that me and the kids can get goofy with!
Who is your favorite group? I've always liked Van Halen.
Have you ever seen them in concert? I had a chance to see them in concert when I was 16, but couldn't get a ride and I'm out of the concert scene now, even though I did just see them coming to Philadephia soon.
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world.
Going up on a hot air balloon, traveling to Europe, and taking my kids to Disney!
Which room in your house best reflects your personality? playroom, because I play all day
What do you see your children growing up to be like? Caring and nuturing, they both are already at ages 5 and 1!!!
What career path would they choose? I am hoping nursing or something in the medical field, although I've got my oldest brainwashed right now to work at Dunkin' Donuts when she's a teen to get me jelly donuts! lol
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!)
I drive fast on the highway, I can not drive 55!! I HATE being passed on there too.
Are there words you live by? What are they? Not really, but I always try and remember when I am angry at something like a company, that the customer service person is only doing their job and it's not their fault of that company's policy-so I always start out with, "I know it's not your fault, but I am very angry right now..." Kind of like, if someone complained to me about my boss's work performance, it's not my fault what she did, I'm just there to fix it.
