**Disclaimer**
MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please PM doozer and we will get you signed up
What is your first name?
Jennifer, but I go by Jen (I am in trouble when I am called Jennifer!)
What are your kids’ names?
Rhiannon (11) and Alyson (4)
Were you ready for motherhood?
Not really, I was a senior in High school when I became pregnant with my oldest!
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person?
My oldest daughter
Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you?
I had her when I was young so I had to become a better person- I want my kids to become good people when they grow up!
Do you have nervous habits? What are they?
Yes! I fidget when I am nervous- if I am sitting I twitch my leg and foot, if standing I play with my hair.
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him?
If they did- I did not hear about it until after we broke up. Which was nice!
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you?
That no matter what was going on- I would always find "light" of the situation and that I loved them dearly!
What did you learn the most from your mother?
How to be a mom! She taught me a lot of the things I needed to know when I had my oldest (quite frankly til I had my oldest- I did not care for kids!)
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis?
I use them almost everytime I go to the store!
What is your best money saving tip?
Never pay full price for your kids clothes- or anything else you can get on sale!
How did you find Mommysavers?
A google search on Frugal Living
Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here?
No- it's my little secret!
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice?
I have become a lot healthier since when I first started coming to momysavers! I lost weight and quit smoking- all thanks to the health, fitness and weightloss forum! I have to give credit to a lot of people that frequent that section for being supportive- especially Christy and Maggie!
Have you ever met a mommysaver?
No
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you?
He really is not all that romantic! He did clean the oven for me last night! Although- on our first anniversary he did get me a really sweet card and my favorite flowers- calla lilies!
Tell us five things you like about yourself.
1) my eyebrows
2) my nails (these babies are unbreakable!)
3) my ability to try to see things and perspectives from all angles
4) I can clean like a mad woman at times
5) my ability to try to make the best out of any situation
What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work?
I try to dabble in a little bit of everything- besides knitting, or sewing. My fave is pottery- that is on hold for now! As for rating myself- decent (although it has been a few years!).
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait?
Quite a few, I dated constantly before I met DH- Steve of course! I suppose he was worth the wait- although I did not have to wait too long!
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert?
I like all sorts of music- from alternative, to classic rock and so on (a few songs from country- not a whole lot!). Favorite group of all time is the Grateful Dead, I did see them in concert the last time they were in Pittsburgh- and unlike a lot of Dead Heads- I remeber it!
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world
1) See my grandkids
2) Check out ancient Mayan ruins
3) to be able to fit into my "skinny" jeans!
Which room in your house best reflects your personality?
It was the bathroom (in the process of moving!), it was relaxing and had some of my Buddha statues and prints.
What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose?
Rhiannon is very artistic and loves clothes- she is constantly drawing clothes on people and always tells me what to wear (she loves Stacey London and watches Heidi Klums desinger show)- I can really see her becoming a clothing designer. Alyson says she wants to be a "Karate Ballerina"- but she is very opinionated, sticks up for the underdog and very loud- I forsee an activist or a lawyer.
Is there something we would never guess about you? Some kind or quirk you have no one close to you knows about. (C’mon tell us!!!!)
I have an obsession with clean countertops (even when passing through I will wipe it down) and straight lines- I am constantly fixing these- even at other peoples homes (some notice- others don't!)
Are there words you live by? What are they?
Just do it and the motivation will come!
