What is your first name?
Angela
What are your kids’ names?
Caleb – 2 years old
Were you ready for motherhood?
Yes… my husband and I were married for three years before we began trying to get pregnant. The baby bug bit a couple times during those years, so we got cats! I’m glad we had those early years to concentrate on one another, but we were both ready and thrilled to have our precious son.
Have you ever met someone who has completely inspired you to be a better person? Can you tell us about that relationship and how it has affected you?
Hmmm... that is a hard one. I have been so inspired by so many people - but the special men in my life stand out the most. My husband loves me sacrificially, unconditionally, and like no other ever could. He inspires me to love him, our son, others, and even myself. My grandfather never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. I've tried to follow that pattern. My father is a quiet, patient, gentle spirit. While my personality seems quite the opposite, I've learned from my Dad the value of being silent at times and not over-reacting.
Do you have any nervous habits? What are they?
I bite my fingernails, crack my knuckles and back
Did you ever date a guy your parents did not like? Were they right about him?
Yes – a couple. Probably so, but I came to that conclusion on my own as well.
What do you want your kids to remember the most about you?
I loved them and taught them to love God and others. I always took the time to make a memory with them whether it be coloring a picture, playing hide and seek, jumping in mud puddles, or going on a vacation.
What did you learn the most from your mother?
The word SCHOLARSHIP! I joke and say that was my first word. My mother pushed all of my siblings to do very well in school. My mother did not finish college and quit working once I was born. While she was confident in her decision to be a SAHM, I believe she has always regretted that she never finished college. She was insistent that we all finish school…with honors!!! That I did!
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis? What is your best money saving tip?
Hmmm… well, I go through spurts. Sometimes I am the coupon queen and then I go several months without touching them. I know I should be more consistent.
My money saving tip for groceries is SAVE-A-LOT. We hit this store first and get all we can before heading to Kroger. We also use the store brand opposed to the name brand on most items.
On a side note, shopping at Kroger with our Plus Card allows us to save on gas as well.
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here?
I found a link to Mommysavers in one of the e-newsletters I subscribe too. I would give credit where credit is due and name them, but I honestly can’t remember which one it was. I have referred a couple of my friends to check out the Scrapbooking Forum as well as the Online Bargains. I believe they are mostly lurkers though because I haven’t seen them post.
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice?
At Christmas time, there is no doubt. The online bargains moderators basically did my frugal shopping for me. Now I check this forum quite often because I'm trying to shop ahead more this year. The scrapbooking forum is also a favorite place to visit. I've shared one layout and participated in one swap. So.... It's about time to participate in a challenge and maybe the dates of a future crop will work out for me soon. These ladies have helped me tremendously. You can always gain so much from looking at - and yes, even copying - the work of the pros. You ladies are fabulous!!!!
Have you ever met a mommysaver?
No, I haven’t… YET! Alright KY gals… are there any of you out there?
What is the most romantic thing your dh ever did for you?
Too hard to pick one: proposal picnic, honeymoon in HI, lots of unexpected flowers and gifts, encouraging notes and letters at just the right time.... He's wonderful all the time! I'm most definitely got a keeper. After 6 years, he remains attentive and still has the element of spontaneity and surprise. My sweetie keeps me on my toes!
Tell us five things you like about yourself.
1) My passion - if I believe something, I'm behind it 100% percent!
2) My goofy sense of humor
3) My compassion
4) My creativity
5) My nose.... yep, it's the body part I dig! (Not literally... that's gross!)
What hobby do you enjoy the most? What got you started on it? How would you rate yourself? Can you show us a picture of your proudest piece of work?
Music - singing, playing the piano. I've been doing it since it was a small child and have even made a career out of it. (I'm an elementary music teacher.)
Scrapbooking is my newest interest. I've been doing it going on 2 years. I'd say I'm intermediate. I've got some of the fun gizmos and gadgets and have a clue what to do, but as I've learned from the scrapbook forum.... I've got a long way to go. I'm excited to keep learning!
How many frogs did you kiss before you found Mr. Right? Was he worth the wait?
More frogs than I'd like to remember - but Mr. Right was definitely worth the wait. In fact, at a point of frustration in college, I said "No More Dating!" I knew God would bring me a man in His timing, and that he did 2 years later.
What is your favorite genre of music? Who is your favorite group? Have you ever seen them in concert?
For my personal enjoyment, I listen almost exclusively to Christian music. The radio dial stays on K-Love. However, I respect and appreciat all genres of music. Norah Jones and Harry Connick, Jr. are always favorites. I enjoy any bands/groups with tight, intricate harmonies - doesn't matter what genre. I'm also a fan of the African Children's Choir.
List three things you have on your Life List; things you would like to accomplish before you leave this world
1) Be the best wife and mother I personally can be!
2) See my entire family come to know God in a personal, life-changing way
3) Adopt children internationally
Which room in your house best reflects your personality?
Our whole house reflects my personality because there are so many facets for me.... mostly our house is vibrant and inviting, but I'm got some calming spots hidden away. My bedroom probably is where I want to spend most of my time just because it seems I'm always craving sleep! My dining room is red and completely Asian inspired and decorated. My living room is lime green with furniture of every color.... a Mexican flair. There are African accents throughout my home. My son's nursery is blue with a beach mural painted around. His new big boy room is bright GREEN with a construction theme. It is interesting at my house!
What do you see your children growing up to be like? What career path would they choose?
At 2 1/2, Caleb is extremely verbal and articulate. He may just be a great evangelist or attourney. Who knows??? Quite honestly, as long as he is happy, he can be whatever he chooses. I believe he will be successful no matter what he does!
Are there words you live by? What are they?
"Red and yellow, Black and white, They are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world!" Many of you may have sang that as a child. I've adopted it as my motto for life. We have been made to be diverse and unique people, but we are all loved by the same Great God! I want to love like that!

MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly selected a week in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please
PM doozer and we will get you signed up
