What is your first name?
Melody
What are your kids’ names and ages?
Rhyl Josephine (pronounced like Bill or Phil) 13 mos, and a fetus due in Feb.
How did you find Mommysavers? Have you referred anyone here? Were you referred here?
I have referred lots of people, but I'm not sure if they've made it here yet. I found this site while looking for...something...I can't remember what, but I immediately fell in love!
What does your user name mean?
It's my first and middle name.
Out of all the things the members here have offered in terms of advice, support, counsel and criticism, what have you personally benefited from? And do you remember specifically who the member was that offered that advice?
Probably feedback about my sewing site, which I have sadly not had the time to update in a very long time. I'm new at sewing, so the compliments and feedback are very much appreciated.
How many coupons do you use on a regular basis?
Shopping at Aldi has eliminated most of my coupon needs, but I still use a few every time I shop for name brand buys at other stores.
What was your most recent "bargain"?
Most recently, $5 t-shirts at WM, and 4 big boxes of material from an estate auction for $7. Now I need help deciding how to use it all!
What have you done to save money this week?
Stayed home.
Inflated the baby pool to avoid going to the local one.
What do you consider a way of life that others think is a crazy way to save?
Sewing. Everything from baby clothes to swim suits, altho maternity clothes are a little tricky so I'll probably keep an eye out at the stores for those. And recycling lots of stuff, like cereal boxes to make a kids playhouse out of. Drives my husband crazy to have stacks of stuff in the house tho!
What is your favorite store in which to find bargains?
The Salvation Army. Another lady's trash is another lady's blended silk sweater.
What is the best deal you ever found (even if it wasn’t at your favorite store)?
When I lived in Virginia I shopped at Ross, which is like TJ Maxx, and bought 4 outfits and a pair of shoes for the office for under $80.
What is your best money saving tip?
Stick to your list, pack snacks, and stay home as much as you can.
What is your favorite frugal meal?
Either breakfast food or pasta. Spaghetti with garlic bread can be so, so cheap, but so, so good!
Do you enter contests? If so, what is the best prize you’ve ever won?
Hmm, no. No contests. Well, once I entered my name to win glamour shots and "won", but so did everyone else whose name went into the barrell.
If money were no object, what 3 things would you buy yourself or your family?
A king-sized bed, a fence around the yard, and lumineers for my front teeth, which keep getting more and more crooked as time goes by.
If you had $10 to spend on yourself (you and you alone) what would you buy?
The french dip from our local restaurant. It's so good, and I've been craving one for about 2 weeks now.
Are there words you live by? What are they?
I'm paying attn to the important things in life right now. I'm not earning a lot of money, but I'm also not going to have anything to regret later. There will always be laundry to wash, floors to mop, dishes to do, and beds to make, but I won't always have babies to cuddle and play with.
Sum yourself up in 1 word:
pregnant

MS Mom of the Week is a fun way for us to get to know the Mommysavers members. Newbies to the board as well as regulars are welcome to participate. The Mom of the Week is randomly in advance of her being featured. I do this so I can contact you, let you know your feature date, and arrange to receive a picture from you to include with the survey. Having a picture included is so we can make it a little more personal and put a name to a face. This is optional of course, as are all the questions being asked. If I don’t hear back from you before your “feature” date, I will randomly select the next person and then get back to you the following week. If you would like to participate please PM
2bearsmom and we will get you signed up.
