I'm doing it! I'm going to try my hand at sewing things to sell. I've put together a small inventory and will be going to my first craft show (the first one I'll offer sewn wares at, anyhow) this weekend in Moberly, MO. When I get back, whatever I do not sell at the show will be posted for sale on the site I've dedicated to this selling business: MRSdesigns

Currently, there's nothing more than a welcome on the site, but I will let you all know when I get the inventory up after this weekend. I just wanted to plant the seed now--be thinking about it!

In the meantime, visit my other site, Melody's Projects and Experiments, to get a feel for what I do. For those of you who are completely unfamiliar with it, here's some basic info:

My main artform is sewing. I find my inspiration and fabric everywhere--sometimes in very unexpected places--so what I make is truly one-of-a-kind. I use recycled as well as new materials. While I'm not an old pro at it, I can make a wide variety of items. I take custom orders, and always work closely with the customer to ensure that the product is exactly what they want. My costs are very reasonable, and I'll always be honest in regards to an expected timeline with the project. No surprises here!

Quality, handmade items are very special, last longer than mass-manufactured discount store articles, and have a way of setting the proud owner apart from the rest of the dept. store handbag carriers. Something to keep in mind for gifts this holiday season, or stocking your own wardrobe throughout the year!

This weekend was HORRIBLE!! The show had very little traffic, altho we were there on Saturday, which is supposed to be much more profitable than Friday. I didn't sell anything until I got home, and then my sister bought a bag she'd been eyeing all day. Even most of our baked goods didn't go. Ugh!! Everyone kept saying, "it's the economy! it's the ecomony!" which I thought was just dragging everyone's attitude down even further. None of the vendors did well, tho, so I'm not taking it personally! Just leaves me with more stuff to put up on the site! Which should happen sometime this week. I'll let you all know!

It's coming together! I wanted to let everyone know that I have begun to post items on my site, MRSdesigns, and will continue to do so as I create new products. Currently there are a few totes and a purse/wallet combo. To come soon: more bags, purses, and baby bonnets!!

Please check back frequently for new items. I'm pretty proud of the ones that are up so far, and if I (as my toughest critic) am happy with them, I'm confident that you'll like them, too!
