I was a Longaberger Consultant for about 7 yrs. I loved it. I had a great upline. The support and training was awesome. I even had 4 women sign up under me. We had lots of fun. I signed up to support my habit.....my basket habit. LOL But as I got into it and worked it I found that I could actually make money. One year I financed our vacation totally with my 'Basket Money'. That was wonderful!

I worked a 'real' full time job and did most of my Basket business during the evenings and on the weekends. Once I had my son I just didn't want to leave him any more than I had too. So I gave it up.

I miss it and at times when I need extra money I really miss it. Like now I just found out our property taxes are due a month earlier than I expected. That leaves me $140 short. If I was still selling I would just call around for a few orders or a few bookings.

These businesses work.......you just need to work them. Getting a product kit delivered is not going to make people start knocking on your door to buy your products.

I've been selling **major skincare, makeup and jewelry** for about 9 months now. I haven't worked it real hard but have done ok. I'm recently at home with the kids now so I'm hoping to make it a little more profitable. I do think it helps that I'm personally not a makeup/fashion hound so I don't spend all my profit buying myself stuff

I agree with another one of the posters that it does take work to be successful - even with a product or company that is well known and liked.

I am a Marketing Executive with **a green company**. I LOVE IT! It is the best best best thing to happen for me and for my family. I have been at it for about 4 months and again I love it!

I've tried a few!! I tried Taste of Home Entertaining which I loved, but honestly it was hard to find people who would spend a lot of money on entertaining pieces when most of my "circle" are stay-at-home moms. I also tried Mary Kay when I was in college. I now sell **makeup/skincare/jewelry**, but not as aggressively as I should. I just basically sell to a few friends and myself!

I have sold Heartwarming Creations, At Home America (did really well, but as far as making money........they really stick it to you for fees, their catalogs and other paper products needed for doing business are very expensive).
I have been a **stamping company* demo for 10 years. It is truly an amazing company.
They listen and do everything they can to help their demonstrators succeed.
I also sell **makeup/skincare/jewelry** , I don't really work at it, I sell to me friends and myself.
I have an idea for a business that I am bumping around in my head............but want to make sure it is feasible before I jump into it.
Thanks!!!

I've done Avon before which is a bit different but still kinda the same LOL! I did ok with it but its the same unless you get in peoples faces & bug them all the time about buying...they won't. My sister does Tastefully Simple which sells food & things, and she does AWESOME, but shes really friendly and does alot of parties, doesnt really push people just does parties & alot of samples, plus shes an Army Wife and on a military base which GREATLY helps her out LOL!

Ya know I think that has alot to do with why I was never sucessful with at home parties. I'm just not a sales person. I tried to pick companies that were fairly well known so that I wouldn't have to 'sell' so much, but it just doesn't work that way. And I'm NOT a seller or a phone person at all.

Another company I tried was Staying HOme and Loving it. Um, yah, not so much! LOL I figured because there was no stocking or selling, this would be easy. But basically I had to buy so much product each month and I pretty much went broke! LOL You COULD make money, if you could recruit people to become members, they gave you a website and everything. I guess I'm just not a go getter, it just wasn't for me. When I did post on a message board, (not this one) I got SLAMMEd big time, and it made me a bit gunshy.

I work for a company **selling insurance** and we offer people discount dental and Health plans who can't afford insurance or just can't get it. I am also an MRI tech, but am having my 3rd baby and really wanted something that still helps people but that I could do from home. I am not a party kind of person so those other at home jobs just weren't for me, so far I really like it and there is a lot of team support and training so they don't just leave you hanging to figure it out on your own.

We, the mods of the WAH forum have discussed this post and decided to move it into the Networking forum. We felt that the tone of this post was becoming very 'Spammy' and we are typically trying to avoid that in the ideas forum.

NOw that this thread is in the Networking forum, you will not be able to respond to it unless you are a member of the networking forum. To do that, you must have 500 posts and be an active member on ALL forums. Meaning you are a member in good standing that posts at least once a week. Go to User CP and click to join the Networking subforum.

Thank you all for your ideas and contributions. I think we have alot of info on this thread for people to check out.
