Money Saving Ideas

Keep a Phone Call Log Book  Keep a log of all the calls you make to businesses right by the phone, especially when you drop or add a service, cancel a membership, or deal with insurance companies. Record the date, time, name of the person you spoke to and ask if they have a reference ID for the call. A notebook by the phone works well, or keep a spreadsheet on the computer.  Bananbellesmom says, "Keeping a log is sometimes difficult, but so well worth it, and when it comes time to question charges, you will have the info that you need!" Read how she saved $500 doing this

Free Family Fun  Are you looking for ideas to keep the entire family entertained this winter without spending much cash?  Here are some from our members:

*For toddlers, check to see if your library has a story time. Some even include crafts!

*Swap movies or Wii games with friends or neighbors

*Take a field trip to the local pet store

*Build a fort in the living room. Re-arrange the furniture. Get out the blankets. Break out the flashlights. Tell spooky stories

*Get the digital camera and take a bunch of funny photos of the family. There are all sorts of ideas on the internet about using perspective to create some memorable shots

*Do your kids play with dolls? Make your own doll clothes and furniture from items around the house. Consider even making your own dolls and doll houses
*Hold a party for the kids' stuffed animals
