Buy accessories to update your wardrobe. You can get cute, colorful accessories for just a few dollars that will look stylish, even worn with your classic clothing
If you go moderate with the cut (vs. trendy) and buy quality, the item will last a long time
Less is more. It's better to have a few good items that you feel GREAT in and are able to be paired up into multiple outfits than to have a bunch of stuff that is never quite right
Try a clothing swap. You can get some really great pieces and outfits for free while passing on what you don't wear and clearing your closets
Once you know what your style is and what you are looking for, check out Craigslist, eBay, resale shops, and yard sales I like to go to TJ Maxx and Marshalls and Kohl's for sales. I can find a ton of stuff there for a fraction of the cost.
