Green Groceries Local farmer’s markets are a great source of affordable produce. You’re supporting the local economy, plus, the environmental cost of transporting the produce long distances is eliminated. Inquire about buying blemished produce at a discount or shop at the end of the day when farmers are more motivated to move merchandise to get the best deals. When you find a bargain, stock up! Preserve their seasonal goodies by canning and freezing them for later use.
You don’t have to plow under your entire back yard to give gardening a try. Start with a few containers on your patio or some fresh herbs or garlic in your window box. You can always branch out from there – pun intended!
Green Cleaners The best way I have found to clean ring around the tub is half a lemon and baking soda. Roll the lemon on the counter and then cut it in half. Wet the tub a little and sprinkle baking soda on it and then use half of the lemon squeezing slightly to get the juice flowing. Rub it in a circular motion on the baking soda. You will be amazed at how fast this works. This also works on the kitchen counters and gets rid of the stains on them. -- Member Queenboxtop
Natural Beauty Products A great natural conditioner is diluted apple cider vinegar, which smoothes the hair cuticle. I also add essential oils of rosemary and chamomile to it to mask the vinegar smell. I mix it in a spray bottle and keep it in the shower. -- Member Loveysbydesign
