Welcome to the Mommysavers Newsletter

9.29.08

Thanks for all the great feedback about our new newsletter format!  We're glad that it is now available for viewing and commenting on in our forums as well.

I'm sending this newsletter a bit early this week so you can tune in to the Daily Buzz tomorrow (Monday) morning.  I'll be on the show between 8:15 - 8:30 (Eastern Time) sharing some of the shopping tips we talk about on Mommysavers.com.  Don't miss it!  For a listing of TV stations that carry the show, visit this link

Have a great week!

Kim

Money Saving Ideas

Halloween Costumes for Less  It's that time of year again!  Watch Kim's video on coming up with frugal Halloween costumes with the items you already have in your home and what's available at your local thrift store.  Come up with great costumes for under $10!

Be a Selective Buyer  In today's tough economy, you have to be selective about what you buy.  But remember, it's not always about buying the cheapest - it's about buying the smartest.  Take detergent for example.  Tide may not be the cheapest product on the shelf, but it contains more active cleaning ingredients than other brands so you're not having to double-dose on capfuls to get your clothes clean.  Take a peek at this video/thread posted in our forums on detergent.

What's Old is New Again  With just a little creativity, you can turn your trash back into usable items.  To name just a few:  Dryer lint makes campfire fire starters, soda bottles can be used as funnels, candle jars can be cleaned out to store cotton balls, baby wipe containers can store plastic bags (they pop up through the hole in the center), and egg cartons can be used as seed starters.  See what other trash-to-treasure tips our readers have
