At least for the economy?

In the overall scheme of things, I don't it really matters, at least for the economy. And I was able to find an article online to match my opinion up. Stocks likely to recover no matter who's president - Yahoo! News Big surprise there.

What do you think?

Well I guess I don't believe those two things are mutually exclusive. Yes, I do think the stock market will recover regardless of who is president. It always has. But also yes, I do think that it matters who wins. Decisions the president makes can make a difference as to how FAST the economy recovers and as to how businesses and individuals are taxed which is also an important part of the economy.

Yes, it does. We have history to look back on and see what can happen when a recession treated with poor economic policy- ala the Great Depression and President Hoover. Or when a recession is combated with an emphasis on lower taxation and less government involvement- ala the recession Reagan inherited from Carter.

The stock market has and will always have it's ups and downs. But how robust the economy will be when we do come out of this recession depends a good deal on which economic policy we choose to pursue as a country- capitalism or socialism. The two major candidates have very different economic views, although McCain would have to be much more fiscally conservative to suit me. I'm voting for capitalism even though I'm one of those Americans who currently pay no federal income taxes.

Yes, it matters more than its ever mattered in most of our lifetimes. I'll be so glad when Tuesday is over and we can all just make the necessary adjustments and get on with living. I just hope whoever wins doesn't increase my taxes. Be they inheritance taxes, capital gains taxes, income taxes, whatever. It's hard enough to make it without having to give away what we've worked very, very hard to accomplish. I personally am very nervous about the thought of an all Democrat congress and legislative branch.

I tend to agree more with Melsb. It will be what it will be and I will still be me when the whole thing is over regardless of who wins. I have the outlook that I am responsible for me and my successes or failures are directly correlated by my decisions and my actions. DH and I have made goal and a financial plan that we're carrying out now and will continue to do so, no matter who sits in the Oval Office. We will not allow any person to have that much control over our values and our decision making. No matter what happens, we will never make decisions out of a spirit of fear and we will never blame someone else for our failures or successes.

It will make a big difference for us. Obama wants to raise FLMA to 25 employees from the current 50. If he wins and keeps this campaign promise our small business will be forced to close it's doors. That's a direct effect on our personal economy.
If he wins I hope that this is just one of the campaign process he breaks.
(let's face it they all break at least some of there promises)
Not that I'm crazy about McCain and his plan to tax health care benfits either.... lesser of 2 evils again.. ugh.

I was debating for a while whether I should vote in this election but I finally decided not too. I don't think it matter who wins in this election but whoever it is he has a lot of work to do when he gets in the office.

I also tend to think that the best thing for the economy right now is that the election is simply behind us. I don't think Obama is the answer for sure, but I also am not so sure McCain is, either. I think it is going to be a rough four years, regardless, and all we can do is pray to get through it and that better options come up for the next go round.

I take it that none of you are Christians or at least you haven't consulted your Bible lately. The biggest difference about who wins is based on who is for and who is against abortion. This is murder. God has always judged a people according to murder. If you look back to Biblical references where innocent blood was shed, God's wrath came upon those people and God judged them harshly.
We are in a time right now, where, if we don't stand for righteousness and pray and humble ourselves and try to do something about this murdering innocent unborn lives, we will reap God's wrath upon this nation. McCain and Palin are against abortion. Obama is for murder no matter how you look at it including unborn babies. Obama also HATES the United States. He is a muslim of Islamic upbringing. They are raised to hate the U.S. and Israel and that will not change. He is out to destroy us. He has been raised up for a time like this to oppose our nation and bring destruction, if he is allowed in.
God will not heal our economy or allow us to continue to prosper any longer until we avow to put an end to this blood shed. I know you probably don't agree with me, but maybe you could get into the word of God and try to prove me wrong. Check out the various books like Joshua and Chronicles and others where God gave other nations into the hands of the Israelites and why He did it. Also, look at the times when He didn't give some of these nations into their hands and why.
In Chronicles, God says, "if my people, who are called by name, shall (will) humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, THEN will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and HEAL their land. It is up to you who you will vote for, and whether or not you will vote. But hopefully this will give you something to think about and look into.
As for the "lesser of the two evils", how do you define "evil"? Yeah, McCain isn't perfect, he is human, but there is a reason that he appointed Sarah Palin to be his running mate. I hardly call her evil when she fears God and calls Jesus Christ her saviour. Also, if you don't know Jesus Christ as your saviour, maybe this would be a good time to take care of that. It is time to ask for forgiveness for our own sins and ask the Lord into our lives and hearts and begin to lead us in this very important decision, as it will effect our lives and most importantly the lives of our children and their children. Don't be short sighted. Look at others lives and the future as well. This isn't just for the next four or eight years. This is for generations to come.
