How do yard sales help your money matters?

I have a friend who has begun going to yard sales, buying clothes, creating outfits, and ebaying her fashion creations. She will mix and match and make individual outfits or find a good quantity of good buys of a certain thing (like newborn onesies) and offer them as a "lot". So far, she is doing pretty well and I have heard of others doing this too.

How do you make yard sales work for you? Do you outfit your family this way? Do you add cash to your budget this way?

I rarely go to yard sales unless I am looking for something specific, because I tend to buy things just because they are good deals. But I have been having a garage sale or two each summer. It helps me keep the clutter down and make a few hundred bucks in the process.

I don't do so much at yard sales, but more so at thrift stores.
I do have a few items I've picked up over the years that have made me money on eBay, but find the relaibility and mass of merchandise at thrift stores to be more of my liking to find stuff to resell. Heck I've even taken dumpster dived goods and sold them in my yard sale or on Criagslist as well. I used to be drastically underemployed and survived on my eBay sales althou it's been a few years since that and eBay has changed much since then.

I don't sell on ebay anmore, havn't for about 8 years because too many people would bid and not pay and th fees got so high. Now, I list books on half.com, and shop yard sales just for the fun of it. It's awesome for helpingthe budget out on xmas for the baby, or DH. He and I don't mind used DVDs or books as gifts.

Getting ready to have our own garage sale saturday, the moneywill go towards the xmas budget, the leftovers donated to goodwill and the library for a tax deduction.

I have found a lot of cheap kids clothes at yard sales. I don't try to sell on ebay anymore. My mom has some old dishes and I have found some pieces that match her set and used those for gifts for birthday or Christmas. I usually take the kids stuff to a consignment shop and whatever don't sell there, I will have a yard sale to get some extra money.
