Good morning I was just wondering if any of you lovely ladies has done (or has known someone who has) data entry work from home. DH came home last week and told me there was a chance he could get a pay cut with the company merge and all, so I picked up an application for a local movie rental place to work on the weekends. But I can't apply because I don't have a sitter for our 20 month DS, so my DH and I were thinking maybe data entry work. Any opinions or experiences? The programs I found were tested and 5 star rated, and have 60 day money back guarantees on them. The two I've narrowed it down to are both $50, though one includes a bonus ($35 value) program to increase profit (extra job opps).. $50 would be hard to squeeze from this paycheck, but I realized that if I had started at the rental place, I'd have to buy work clothes and stuff anyway, so it's not much different. Except for this, I can just stay home and do my work while DS takes a nap or is with my in-laws next door. What do y'all think? You think it's worth a try?

I've looked into a lot of them, and my sil is always trying something new like that and throwing money away. You should never have to pay for a job. Most of those sites (all I've seen) are either scams or you never recover your cost. You train, etc., but the amt. of work coming in isn't enough, or they find so many things wrong with what you do you don't get paid nearly enough. My sil just did a new one (she didn't pay for) processing rebates, and found out she was only making $2 per hour. Plus, some you have to pick up and drop off, and the pay doesn't even cover the gas. I hope someone else has had better experience, but the only ones I saw making $ on this are the advertisers.

My MIL is a transcriptionist for a doctor's office. You could look for something like that and not have to pay the fee. She is able to do it all from home and has a certain number of lines she has to type per day. From what I've seen, she justs listen to the doctor's notes and types them up using her computer at home.

I def. agree you should never have to pay to get a job!

By the way, this is her job and has been doing it for years, so it must pay decent. Also, she does all of her work electornically, so no gas. She actually lives over an hour away from the office.

If you have to pay for it...then you have to find someone else to buy the same thing from you to make your money back...that's not a job, it's a scam...

The transcription thing is a good idea, but I think you have to be a certified transcriptionist, I have a friend that does it and for her Dr's office she was also required to take a medical terminology class (the office paid for it) and she makes good money doing it PT.

One more thing: Even after paying for legitimate training, etc., sometimes they also leave it up to you to find the clients. That is hard.

You can take the medical transcription course, and try to find an office to hire you.

My dad was a doctor, the girl would stop in and pick up the tapes. I think she was paid 10 cents per line of typing or something. I can ask my mom if you'd like to PM me.

AS far as anthing else, I wouldn't pay for it.

I am doing data entry, but it is forms for the customer card they have people sign up for at DH's work. I make 25 cents per application. He then uses the info for email blasts, contests, promotions at work. Now if you'd like to inquire at a business how they do it, this may give you something to go on.

I do medical transcription from home and make 8 cents a line. If you factor in the hours I work, I have made anywhere from $8 to over $14 per hour depending on how well I understand the doctor. I do have a certificate I did through a correspondence course. I have a B.S. in Chemistry and can make almost as much doing this from home as I did working in R&D. I had a 1.5 hour commute so I am saving money on gas and no daycare costs so actually I am probably making more per hour.
