The repair man said it would cost $228 to fix the oven and $178 to fix the oven door. We already spent $228 fixing the oven this past Aug. He said that my oven is a cheap oven but it lasted 12 years so thats pretty good. The appliances they make now only last 1-4 years. What the hell!! The prices should come down on the appliances then if they don't last as long. I guess we are going oven shopping at the sears outlet store when dh comes home.

HECK 1-4 years we just got one and spent $1500 on it ... IT better last longer than that.. but we also bought the extended service plan... good thing we did. There are so many diffrent ranges out there now tho some are really nice. I love to cook and would like to think I am awsome at it so we bought a top of the line one with a double oven.

We bought a new one yesterday and its being delivered tomorrow. It is a convection oven with 5 burners and a warming drawer on the bottom. It wil be so useful for Thanksgiving. I am so going to have to read the directions over and over again to use everything that it does.

Maybe the repair man is saying new appliances last 1-4yrs because he wants you to get it reapired by him and not throw it out and buy a new one? just thinking out loud.

Also for $300 you could probably get an oven from the big stores like Sears/Home Depot or Lowes. You should think about it, if you are going to be paying $200 every year to fix it, maybe buy a new one and not pay anything for 4-6yrs. I think the new appliances last longer then 1-4yrs.

Thats what I think too. I can't beleive that appliances can be so disposable. We spent a little more than I was thinking of spending but then after taxes, delivery and the warranty it almost doubled the price.

LOL! That's funny....the reason that we bought the house we did earlier this summer was because it had a double oven! I love to bake and often have something in the oven when I should be making dinner....

Three years ago we bought a new smooth top stove from home depot for $350.00. It's original price was almost $700.00. They were switching out their displays and had 3 or 4 different brands. This is also how I got an $800.00 dishwasher for half price.

Our Lowes and Home depot have an area in the store where they keep displays and scratched merchandise. I have always had good luck with these high end appliances for very little money.

We are having our new stove delivered today...........

I have a microwave shelf over the range that actually is attached to the range top. I'm hoping the back/top of the stove is not going to be covered by the microwave shelf on top. All the controls for the oven are on top. If it does I'm either going to have to find a shelf that attaches to the wall above the range or an under the cabinet microwave which cost alot more than just one that sits on the counter top. We have no counter space so thats the only place it can go is above the range. I don't even have anywhere to put a microwave cart.
