As many of you have already said what the teachers normally ask for are supplies for the classroom; so what I typically do is buy a gift certificate to Wal Mart for each teacher. That way they can either buy school supplies if they need, or they can get something for themselves and their family.

I used to love homemade gifts from the kids. THey were always so proud of what they did. They were also so excited about giving it to me that most times they would want to open the gift themselves. The best part is how they would tell me all about what they did, how they did it and how fun it was for them That meant the most to me.

This year our kids' teachers are getting some baked goods in a tin and a loaf of Tastefully Simple's beer bread!

I found this website that has 63 gifts for under $10. And they're actually pretty good ideas too - some things I've never thought of. Check it out for some creative gift ideas:

Some Nov magazines had 2 Bath and Body Works coupons. The magazines were Cosmo, Redbook, and Better Homes and Gardens. The coupons were for a free signature item up to $10.50 with any purchase. I purchased a couple $1 gift bags and got free lotion and body spray. They could be great teacher gifts.

This year is my first year of kids making/giving gifts to teachers. So we are making homemade calendars. I printed out 12 coloring sheets to go with the month and then will print out the calendar dates, laminate with clear contact paper and assemble after the kids each color 6 master pieces.

Also we made cut out ornaments, with flour, salt, and water. Let the kids paint and decorate and covered with varnisy and a ribbon this week end they turned out really cute and easy, to also go with the calendars.

I just posted in school age forum. through scholastic you can buy a gift certificate for 3.95 and your teacher can then use that to pick a book from scholastic. we have a fairly new teacher so she needs books.
