Does anyone participate in this program for their DCs? It is where a % of certain products you buy at participating retailers are given back to you for your child's college. My local grocery store offers it and gave me the info. but I have not signed up yet and was wondering if it was worth my while.

DH and I are registered with Upromise. I think its a great program. You register all your store cards (grocery, drug, ect...) and they will give you a percetnage (a lot of times only 1 % and it depends on the product you buy not the store).

If you log into the Upromise website and enter a particular store's name that you want to shop at, it will tell you the percentage you get back. I got 8% one time. And if you're an ebay fanatic like I am, ebay will give you 1% back.

They also have ecoupons to download to your cards. These coupons don't give you money off at the store but instead they add the money to your upromise account. Example: In April they had a $1.50 coupon for Huggies. I didn't get an extra 1.50 off in the store but an extra 1.50 was deposited into my account.

If you're opening t his for a young kid I highly suggest it. Its not something that builds money quickly. But if you're spending money on things anyways, why not put a little aside!

I agree it's worth it if you have young children. It's like collecting pocket change for college. It won't add up to lots, but every little bit helps. If it helps them buy books some day then to me it's worth it. I also do the surveys that you can roll over to your upromise account as well.

After so much in your upromise account you can roll it over to your 529 plan if you want.
