We have one, and only one. We keep it for travel emergencies, which almost never happen. It is mostly used for online purchases, and as soon as the transaction posts to the account, it is paid off. We have a ridiculously high interest rate (I'm sure it's because we don't ever use it and we always pay it off) which helps to be an extra motivator.
