We only have one. We have a nice line of credit at our bank that we can use if needed. I still keep my "emergency" card though.

We have 2 and a Macy's card that I use only for shopping there for we get a better discount.

We have a visa that we use for dh to order car parts, and to use to secure a hotel room when we go on trips. Anything charged on it, gets paid in full every month.

I also have a Kohl's that I use when they give a discount if you use your kohl's charge. But I turn around and pay it off right then before I leave the store.

We have four: two from our bank, one that my husband uses for work, and I just got a new one to get rewards. I use my rewards card for everything, and they are all paid in full every single month.
