This is more of a vent than anything else.

My hubby gets paid every other Friday. A month ago the employees in his division were told that they had to take a one week 'furlough' (no work, no pay, vacation isn't an option) sometime in July. Hubby took his week a couple of weeks ago.

He has had to do furlough before and I was worried about the cut in pay but the company also switched him to an hourly worker so now he gets overtime. With all his overtime before his furlough week, we barely notice the week off.

Well this time around they totally under paid him. They didn't give him his overtime and they didn't pay him for the Independence Day holiday (07/03 this year). He basically got 4 days of pay. They did this to the rest of his group, too.

Hubby is P.O.'ed to say the least and he isn't the only one. He hasn't heard yet when they are going to fix the paychecks.

I'm thinking they did it on purpose to 'fix' their bottomline for the quarter. During the same time period they also delayed sending hubby's re-imbursement check. I think they just didn't put those obligations on the books for the quarter just to make the numbers look better.

Anyone else see companies that are massaging the data? I know the last time I worked for a company in an economic downturn, we had a couple of instances where they shipped empty boxes to customers just so they could book those sales.

I've been underpaid before by the USPS, took them 7 weeks to correct the problem but if they overpay ME, they want that money back ASAP.
Dh has had 2 paychecks bounce in the past year, which led to the company selling out with only a day's notice to all their employees.
I hope you get it resolved.

that's terrible.
i know my dh's company has a policy where if you don't actually work the full week, like come into the office, for any reason including sick leave or scheduled vacation, you don't get holiday pay.

for example, if you scheduled a vacation day Monday and only work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday is an office closed holiday, then you don't get the holiday pay. you have to use your vacation time to cover that, too, if you want a full check.

could that be the system at his place as well, and since he didn't get hours for the previous days he didn't get holiday pay?

either way, they suck. way to show they value their employees....
