Nope, if I had to to survive, probably, but would not want to. I like some "conveniences".

I think there are a lot of things you could get by bartering and living a freegan lifestyle without having to live in a cave to do it like this man. (I personally think he may have just a few screws loose!). However, in the end using money does make acquiring some of these things simpler. It's why our predecessors moved from a barter economy to using money as a means of exchange.

Throughout time, there have been unique people, people who invest more time in spiritual though, maybe is the right word? This man has some interesting ideas and I think our world needs people like this. On the other hand, I am not one of these people and have no desire to be one.

But thank you for the article. I enjoyed it.

Absolutely. It would be kind of fun! I don't think we would take it *quite* as far as he did.... we would probably need to have an actual house or some sort of dwelling other than a cave, but I think it would be an awesome adventure.

My first thought, " CAN and WANT TO are two different things."

But I have to admit, I couldn't.

First of all, I have a husband and a child to raise. Secondly, I have some health issues that would prevent me from 'roughing it' too much.

I do wonder, as he ages and this type of lifestyle grows more difficult, what he will do. He has no retirement, I assume, so does he just become a burden on society. I know he made a statement about dying out in the woods when his time, or something like that, but there is s big difference talking about vs. actually doing it.

I still enjoyed the article and have to give him a bit of credit.

Very interesting article. I prob could survive w/o money if I had too. But w/ having 3 kids to raise it wouldn't be the smartest thing to do. What about healthcare? How would you pay for that? I agree w/ whoever said he has a few screws loose. It does make you realize that there a lot of things we have that aren't really necessities...but they sure do make life a lot easier.

The thought of living off the grid alone freaks me out so I'd have to say a big fat NO to being able to live without CASH!
