I saw an article by Liz Pulliam Weston today and wondered if it applied to any Mommysavers. Are you giving beyond your means? Do you know a family member or friend who is? Examples include:
  • Parents who spend fortunes on their kids' educations but who don't save enough for their own retirements.
  • People who co-sign a loan for someone who's not creditworthy or trustworthy, but who can't afford the payments when the borrower defaults.
  • People who give away big chunks of their income to charities or religious organizations as they sink deeper into debt.

Are YOU giving beyond your means, or know of anyone in this situation?

I know someone who is generous beyond their means with their family members.... Actually their family members just leech off of them and it has driven them into bankruptcy (among other things of course). Even after the bankruptcy, they still haven't told those family members to back off. It's sad, and I have been tempted to say something many times, but they know the situation they're in and I am sure they also know exactly how they got there.

umm... we do not do a TON but if our current situation my DH seems to think we give beyond our means we have very little savings but I always do Operation Christmas Child for church, I am participating in our MOPS moms outreach & we tithe..... I would rather do these things than save more money... even with very little savings basically none at all I have way more than these people!! I love to give it might not fill my bank account but it feels my heart

My mom was very giving even though she didn't have any money. It drove me nuts sometimes, but her generosity had no end.
