We closed in March and we had not actually even filed our taxes at that point. So we sent the info to the accountant and he filed the new home tax credit as well, so everything was direct deposited I believe in May or June.

We closed on the 30th of Oct. We didn't receive a check. I was under the belief it was a credit applied to your taxes you will file before April 2010.

Yup, we did too. We closed on May 1st and ammended our 2008 tax return and got an $8000 check at the end of July. We were going to buy a house anyway, so the credit wasn't really an incentive, but it's nice to have.

Isn't this the one that you have to pay back?

Phoenyx, NO you don't have to pay it back. This was NOT the loan one.
