it's going to be hard, but i'd keep serving them. at least they're pleasant. i'd rather take that than a rude customer who leaves a tip. maybe be really obvious when you pick up a tip from another table from them?? tell the customer who left you the tip "Oh, thank you so much! you guys are awesome!" maybe they'll get the message.

That's the harsh part of waiting tables - you get taxed on what you SHOULD have made had everyone tipped appropriately, not on what you ACTUALLY made after being stiffed on a big bill.

I think I would talk to the manager. While it would be rude to ask them to tip, he could at least make sure that they get seated in various sections so the waitstaff could take turns serving them.

This is why the laws must change! A tip is voluntary yet it is almost made mandatory especially if you are wait staff. I, the customer, on the other hand, hate tipping! I pay for the food and should expect that the price would include the pay to their staff and shouldn't have to tip.
I don't get tips for my job since I don't bring out food for people, make coffee or whatever else gets tips....

The price of the food includes paying the wait staff about $3 an hour.
I would love to see the minimum wage laws applied to service workers such as waiters. My daughter waits tables and tends bar. Bartenders at the restaurant where she works get paid more per hour than waiters, but still below minimum wage.
Dishwashers get paid at least minimum wage.
Some nights she leaves work after eight hours on her feet schlepping beer and burgers with a couple hundred dollars in her pocket, sometimes less than twenty.

I also think this is the best solution.. I am sure they they prob wouldn't get 100% of my attention also and concentrate a little more on the other customers. I would still wait on them and be courdious and meet thier needs but would not go up and over.

In England it wasn't too common to tip. At least when I was there. If there was a tip left, it would usually get thrown into a pot and they would all split it.

I would say something to the manager about it, something could be done it seems. Also, I have heard in other countries (not sure which ones) that it is an insult to leave a tip. That could be it maybe or they could be nice folks that are cheap

I think it a shame that in this country our servers and wait staff get paid so little that they have to rely on tips. When I visited Australia I was informed by my hosts that tipping is not allowed as the gratuity is already figured into the cost of the meal. And the staff in a good restaurant get at minimum $13 AU an hour. We almost seem like a 3rd-world country in this comparisson.
