All this talk about Goodwill i decided this morning to stop at the one in the nearest town on my way to grocery shopping. I found the board game"LIFE" for $2.99 with all the pieces, some Nike brand track pants for my son for $1.99 and a few long sleeve tshirts for me that i can wear for work and a wall calendar for $2.99.

My dh and I actually went to Goodwill today! He got two pair of jeans and a pair of jean shorts. I got three shirts. They were all in like-new condition and great brands (Tommy Hilfiger, Levis, etc.) In addition to clothes, we also look for household things, CDs, and books. I like to look all around, because you never know what you're going to find. Oh - I also bought a wedding dress at a Goodwill. It wasn't for me, however. My aunt used that dress material to make my flowergirl's dress for our wedding. That was SO MUCH cheaper than buying the material from any store.

~ Books for kids
~ Books for me
~ Harry Potter items
~ Wood toys

Last week I went to Savers with specific things in mind (Savers is like Goodwill but I think they have better stuff and it is less expensive... at least the stores by me.) I went to find an exercise "step" so I can start doing my Firm videotape (I got the tape for $1 at Savers 2 weeks ago.) I found the Transfirmer (both pieces) for $7.99, which isn't bad. I could have found it for $5 at a yard sale but would have to wait indefinitely...

I was also looking for winter pajamas... found 4 very nice sets!!! 2 from Victoria's Secrets. Also found a great bathrobe, also from VS.

I was looking for a new bra. Found one for 1.99, by Calvin Klein, and it had never been worn or even washed yet. It is brand spankin' new. Fits perfectly and is my new favorite bra. (I washed before wearing!!!)

I went looking for nice, wooden kids toys. I hate to say this, but educational toys do not always sell at yard sales! They get donated and end up at places like Savers... I have found the best kids toys. Montgomery Schoolhouse wooden trains, entire wooden block sets (large, natural wood, perfect condition, brand new...) wooden puzzles, all pieces included, Thomas the Tank wooden bead roller coaster ($3.99). My latest "wood toy" find was this neat magnetic wooden ball... it has a bunch of colored wood pieces that form a ball (it has a magnetc core), but when you throw it or drop it, the pieces scatter and you rebuild it. It is heavy and such a nice toy - all 3 of my kids thought it was one of the top gifts for Christmas! ($1.99)

I tend to look for work clothes. Mine seem to wear out fast

I would have never thought of a good time to go to the Goodwill. But now I just want to go! Anyway I usually look for books and I am gonna try and go in the next couple of days.

Books. I've found some classics this way! I love the way old books smell, warm and musty like my grandmother's summer home.

I find it best to keep an open mind and eye. I look at everything. My best Goodwill was a Columbia snow suit, jacket and pants for $2.00.

I usually look for books and jeans, at goodwill. At just thrifty/antique stores I look for unique items for my home. Or pyrex bowls that they don't have anymore.

We live in an LDS (Latter Day Saints, aka: Mormon) community so our best thrift store is D.I. - Deseret Industries. I go there because they have wonderful dressy dresses for my little one. Their standard price for a girls' dress is $3 and they are beautiful and often handmade.

Hubby is always on the look out for used books.

I look for decent used women's clothing when I have the time. I'm losing weight so I actually need to buy clothes.

When we lived closer to a beach town, I had a favorite Goodwill that always had amazing sweaters. I miss that place. Sometimes I'll grab up wool or cotton sweaters to use for craft projects.

I also look for kids clothing. Mostly baby clothes, since they are only 1.50 a piece. I don't buy much for the older ones because the prices are too high. I am really good at finding stuff at dept stores on clearance at lower prices so why buy used? I may browse just for fun and I have no problem letting the kids pick a prize. Once ds picked a plastic car and it was only 25 cents-no prob. Movies are $2 at ours, I've found some good ones. I also found 2 booster seats a while back $5 each, I keep them for extras. It's just fun to browse. You never know what you'll find!
