Ok i never use coupons. I just don't take the time to find them.....so my question is....
where do you find your coupons. It seems whenever i check out the Sunday paper there are never coupons that relate to me. I never find things that i usually use. I figure if i use a coupon on something i never would have bought before i'm not really saving anything.
Where do you find your coupons??
I do most of my shopping at Walmart. Do they have their own coupons?

I never use coupons either. I usually find they are for the more expensive brands and I can buy off brands cheaper then the brand name with a coupon without all the hassle!

First off, go to the coupon section of this board and get yourself on a coupon train! LOL You find more coupons you need that way and trade the ones you don't need with others.

Next, the secret to using coupons is to use them inconjunction with the sales, you will save MUCH more that way. Read your flyers that come in every week and take notice of whats on sale. It MIGHT be a name brand. If you have the coupon, you can get it even cheaper than the store brand.

Example: Fruity Cheerios went on sale at my local store for 1.76. I had a $1.00 off coupon, I bought 2 boxes of fruity cheerios for .76. The same store had General Mills cereal on sale for 2.12 each. I had a coupon save $1 off 2. SO I bought 2 boxes and got2 boxes of Name brand cereal for $3.24.

Another local store has a BoGo Free sale, and I just HAPPEN to have a .75 off one coupon. This particular store doubles coupons, so I actually get 1.50 off, and since I'm buying 2 items (1 free!) I get 2 items for less than the price of 1.

Is this making sense?

You really have to have the time and want to do it. If you just do it willy nilly and don't follow the sales, you won't save anything. This is an art, but a profitable one!

Yes WAlmart takes coupons, but they will not double them. They will also price match your items to other stores, just follow your sales and bring in your flyer to show them the sale.

I have never tried to get walmart to price adjust. Do you just tell the cashier and she will change it?

IMO Starting to use coupons is the worst part....It takes time....it takes A LOT of time. Once ya start though it can be really worth it.

Like Happymom, I find that I can usually buy off brands for cheaper than I can buy the brand I have a coupon for ~ with the coupon! Ya just have to spend time getting to know what costs what and if it's worth it. Sometimes there are really great coupons that allow me to get the namebrand for cheaper. I tend to shop at one store, somewhat know their prices, and know whether the coupon is worth it or not. Sometimes my shopping trips are longer as I compare, but once you get all of it down, it doesn't take as long. Gaining this knowledge it what takes the time.....again IMO. You're right - if you use a coupon for the sake of using a coupon it doesn't really save you money ~ especially if you wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

Ooops - sorry .....to answer your initial question...As far as where I get the coupons ~ I usually get most of mine from the paper, or coupon trades, or I have a couple of friends who give me 2-3 wks worth of ads at a time. It does take awhile to go through them - some weeks are much better than others. I also now shop regularly at Wal-Mart and as far as I know, they don't have their own coupons as Target does.

Yep, just show it to the cashier when your cashing out and they can change it themselves. YOu don't need a manager or anything. I do this ALL the time, not just with groceries, but toys, gifts, movies, etc.

I have never seen Walmart coupons. I save the ones from my Sunday paper. I usually don't buy something just because I have a coupon unless I can get the item almost free. Rainbow doubles coupons on Wednesday around here- so if there is something that is a good deal- I will go there. There is a website out there called
www.thecouponclippers.com I have bought a few coupons from this site. Also I look for Target Web coupons at http://coupons50webs.org

I have had good luck with Target either combing a mfg coupon with their web coupons or the coupon flyers they send in the mail. If you aren't on Targets mailing list- just call them up. I have also emailed different companies of products I love- like Unilever- they make Suave and some others- I emailed them that I like their Suave pro. products and they sent me some free coupons and other coupons for other products. Same with Pampers and Huggies- Pullups and Goodnights- I emailed them for some coupons for being a loyal customer. Just put in an email that you love their products and you want some coupons for being a returning customer- they will always send you coupons. HTH

I love coupons. I get loads of stuff for free or just pennies. Especially things like condiments and cereal and air fresheners. If you have a store that doubles coupons its great. I get my coupons from the Sunday paper and also online.
There are rarely (in my area) coupons for staples such as milk and bread and eggs but I know some people can find them. I love couponing and to me its also a hobby, something I enjoy doing. Oh and I haven't paid for toothpaste, shampoo, or deodorant in quite some time!

One word of caution if you get your coupons online, There are more and more places that will not accept them because of the frauds. Of course, one jerk has to ruin it for everyone! I printed some out a few months ago and took them to walmart, the girl told me if they don't scan, she can't accept them. But mine scanned no problem, but check with your store. Some stores have a sign in their window, they will NOT accept internet coupons.

I use coupons (I am part of a coupon train, too), but I save more money than couponing by price matching at Walmart! For example, our Walgreens has milk this week $2.49 a gallon. It is normally $3.49 or so at Walmart and that saves me $2 right there (I buy two at a time with the kiddoes).

I go through each Sunday and circle everything I need at the different stores with the best prices. Write them down on a list (so I don't buy extra and am more organized) and take them to Walmart so it is easier to show the cashier if she needs it.

They hated to see me coming with a bunch of babyfood when I was at that stage!
