Question If you had to come up with an extra $10 a day, how would you do it?

Let's say you could make something, sell something, provide a service or give up something to get an extra $10/day of income. What would you do? Babysit? eBay some things you own? Make kids' clothes to sell?

Sometimes the key to getting ahead is thinking about baby steps like this. An extra $10 day might not sound like much, but it is $300/month and might be enough to pay down a credit card or save for your child's education.

Do you have any special skills/talents/resources that would allow you to make an extra $10 day??

I guess I could babysit or sell somethings on ebay. I use to clean just one house a week and that was 90 so I guess that would come out to more than 10 a day.

I would prob. try...any of the above. They are all ideas that I have dabbled in, so I would just put my feelers out to see what was needed the most when.

It seems like such an easy thing to do ~ I wonder why I am not doing it already

I sell on Craigslist and sometimes Ebay, I babysit, pet sitting is easy money if you love animals. I think it's really easy to make extra money if you are motivated and organized. Last weekend alone I sold two things on craigslist and made over $100.

I need to get busy and list a bunch of stuff on ebay. I know I could get a job at a nursing home too, but I really don't want to work those kind of hours. But if things got really tough, I know I could.

I could sell things on ebay or otherwise, baby sit, pet sit, do odd jobs. There are a number of things I could do actually. Since I work full time I could just work another 45 minutes a day too if necessary.

I really enjoy your questions. They sure get me thinking!

How could I make $10 extra a day? I've been thinking about it since I read your post early this morning and this is what I came up with.

I 'did the math' on msn money and figured that if I had $80,000 in savings, and put it into a regular old savings account at ING Direct, whose rate is at 4.5% at the moment, I could make $300 a month, or 10 a day, every day without even having to think about it. But where am I going to get $80,000? Then I thought some more, and though I nearly owe double that on my mortgage. If I can somehow increase my mortgage payments and owe $80,000 less on my house then I would be saving $300 a month I pay in mortgage payments. So, by living frugally and saving as much as I can, I can pay off my mortgage faster and save that extra $10 a day!

I still like the idea of making an extra $10 a day so I'll continue to watch the post closely for ideas. One of the disadvantages to living the simple life is that I don't have anything left to sell on ebay!

I'm a sahm and I make about $20 a day taking care of my two nieces and one of my dd's classmates after school. It don't know if it's worth it though, I have to buy extra groceries so that I can give them snacks, I help with their homework, and they all are alway's fighting, (my older niece is especially difficult) and I don't get paid if for some reason one of the parents picks them up instead. It's alot of work so I have some tips if you are thinking of doing this. Make sure that the kids you take care of can get along well with your kids, make sure you can get along with the parents and spell out up front when and how much they will pay you, and also what expectations they have about disciplining. This can be a great way to supplement your income if everyone can be agreeable.

Honestly, for my family, if we cut out eating out for lunch after church on Sundays, we could save most of that $10 a day! Add me in giving up my once a week lunch with friends, and we would probably make it.
Also, if I only go to Aldi and stick to my list, I could probably save half of that. I easily spend $35 more than I planned to most weeks...most of the time more than that! Plus, when I shop at WalMart for groceries, I am bad about going over to "look" at scrapbooking stuff and clothes for someone! I come home with "stuff" that I could definitely have put off buying!
Other than that, I agree with the above posters.

I don't think I could!! I can't make anything anyone would want to buy. I tried selling on ebay and ended up losing more than I gained. We have already cut back. I would be able to scrape together $10 a week but not a day, with our budget.
