We have been toying with the idea of going to banking with USAA and funny you should post this as I was looking at it in another window just now.

My only concern is how do you deposit checks? Sorry, I did not understand that one. Dh's would go directly to them no problem, but my WW checks cannot be direct deposited so I do it the old fashioned way. How does that work? Thanks.

I WISH we could get homeowners insurance through them. Since we are not military, but have it through former dependent coverage, they won't cover us in Florida. We have auto insurance through them. Every year, I call to ask only to be told no. I tell them there will be a year they tell me yes.

Oh, and there is NO WAY I would pay for people to use my money! They pay me! I have never paid a fee.

i bank with a regular bank and a credit union neither have fees or minimum balance requirements except the credit union makes you keep $5.00 in your acct..none of my credit cards have fees. my bank debit card even gives me cash back if i use it as a visa.(it is cheaper for banks to run as visa then if you use your pin number) it works kind of like a discover but i can transfer it as cash to my acct or in gift cards in $5.00 increments.

i do not pay any fees. i do not beleive in banks do to having deposited a huge check a few years back from college. the bank took 300 hundred and i do not know where it went i bounced checks left and right. also bill collectors would take money out without asking and i had closed my account and they found my new one and was still doing it. so no more banks for me i just use money orders.

sh and I have seperate accts. Both charge us. WE have a joint acct that his paycheck gets depostied into, and I use to give him spending money and pay house hold bills. I pay about $10 a month, and $27 for each bounced check. (I've been trying REALLY hard to not pay those fees! LOL) The other fees are a small maintance fee, like $4, a service charge, and the rest were forign ATM charges. I FREAK when I see though, it frustrates me to NO end when dh uses a ATM that charges. BUT of course, there is only 1 brance of the bank we use, so that is unavoidable. What I did last week was write him a check for $40 so he just went to the bank, I didn't have to give him the ATM card, and he got money without charges.

I belong to a diffrent bank because my check will ONLY get DD through this certain bank. They won't work with other banks, this is the bank our checks are drawn on. I pay ab out $7 there a month. I also pay $28 for a bouned check and $30 for an uncollected fee. I STILL don't know what that is. I've been charged this twice, both times I've called and complained, one time they gave me the money back. They tried to explain it to me, I still dont' get it. It has something to do with a money hold. LOL

I'm looking into getting a free bank now, this is crazy that we pay so much a month.

This drives me nuts! I really have to get in to the bank and figure out how I can pay less.

I pay no bank fees and always use cash unless paying a bill. I don't have a debit card and will try to avoid it as long as possible.

I also got to the point where I was so tired of paying bank fees that I finally went with PC Financial. (Only for Canadians). You can go into any Superstore, Loblaws, or Zhers and talk to someone or just look up the information on line. http://www.pcfinancial.ca/

Not only are there no fees and they pay me money to use their services. Since 1999 when we switched, I've been given over $750 in free groceries and dh over $590! We also have our home insurance and car insurance through them which means even more points and the best quotes I could find anywhere! It took me one afternoon of writing all the change of banking information and I stopped paying over a hundred dollars a year in fees and starting earning over a hundred dollars a year in groceries. It was honestly the best financial decision I have every made. And they pay 4% interest on their Interest Plus account right now which is the best in the businesses at the moment in Canada.

I've also heard that Canadian Tire just set up their own bank that is similar but I haven't looked into the details of fees or interest rates.

We also use USAA and LOVE it!! You can mail deposits (they send you free postage paid envelopes) in or you can use the scanner on your computer to scan it in.
