Not sure if it was my post you were referring to here, but $200 a week feeds a family of 6 plus 10 daycare kids. I serve 178 meals in an average week, snacks cost less than dinners of course, but it averages out to be $1.12 per meal. Not real gourmet here

I spend between $90.00-$100.00 a week on groceries for the 5 of us, my DS doesn't eat as much food as the rest of us, but he makes up for it with the cost of diapers! I would love to get it down even lower, really planning out my meals (even lunch) has really helped though.

We spend about $95 CDN ($83 US) on food per person per week. I cook all our meals, and plan them around sale items. My husband travels about three months out of the year, and my daughter and I eat out dinner often when he is gone.

Living on an island is expensive! A regular loaf of bread is $5.00, about $1.25 for a litre of milk ($4.70 a gallon) CDN. My daughter and I can't leave an "average" restaurant for under $23 CDN (about $20 US).

Cheers, from
Swampwitch

p.s. We eat whole foods, organic when comparably priced, high-quality eggs and meats... I think good food is the way to stay/get healthy. Still, everything's too expensive here! I'm interested to hear from somone in Hawaii.

We have 2 adults 1 teenager and my middle son will be 13 in February and a 5 year old. We spend on average $150.00 per week and I think that's way too much! My boys always seem to be hungry especially my 14 year old. I literally cannot keep enough food in the house at times. I've heard teenage boys will eat you out of house and home and I believe it now.

I grocery shop every two weeks. I budget $200 for the trip, but this also includes things like paper towels, TP, baggies, etc.... I figured realistically I spend about $180 on food ~ so that = about $90 a week. We have 6 people (three are pretty small kid eaters) so that averages out to about $15 per person per week. We DON'T eat out unless it is a rare rare occasion (bday, or what have you), and DH packs a lunch every day. I should add that we are currently able to participate with the WIC program, so that helps with my Milk (which is also a LARGE chunk.

As the kids grow I know I will need to increase, but currently this seems to work.
