What is your food budget per person / per week?

Example if your food budget is $200 a week and there are 6 people living in your house, your food budget per person / per week is $33.

Our is $25 a week ($100 divided by 4 people). Dh thinks this isn't very much and I think we can do even better. (We only eat out a few times a year). So I thought I'd poll and see what is normal.

well you had me breaking out the calculator! But I don't really know for sure b/c I don't know exactly how much a week we spend on food and I've for sure never calculated it down to per person. Some weeks more, some weeks less. I guess b/w costco, the grocery store for produce and eating out, we probably spend around $300 a week, but that inludes stuff other than food to, diapers etc.
Anyway, I calculated $300 a week divided by 5 = $60.
But since Jenna nurses and eats baby food, she doesn't eat $60 a week

OOPS I didnt read the whole post before voting I voted our weekly budget for 4 which is about 125.00. I hope to bring that down but for now I am trying to make a budget and I want to see what we normally spend on everything. This is just for grocery shopping and we haven't gone out to eat at all this month so before trying to budget would have been about 40-45 a week with the eating out. YUCK that is horrible to even think about because I am not factoring in lunch out for me.

For my 9 yr old DS and I we typically spend $125-150 a month on food at the store and then I figure another $50 to include eating out and occassional hot school lunches. We do not eat out more than 1-2x a month so that is adequate for us. That adds up to about $200 for the month for 2 of us so I figure about $25/week per person. Sounds pretty good to me!

I do worry about the upcoming teen years. Friends I have with older boys talk about how they are bottomless pits and eat everything in sight. This will obviously increase my budget a lot! Right now, my DS eats almost as much as I do most of the time so I can see budget issues lurking in the future.

We are a family of 5 and I spend about $100 a week on groceries and eat out once a week. I put down $20 and less but it might be more into the next level. We do a lot of eating what is in the cupboards as much as we can.

We spend about $100 on groceries on an average week. A typical week of eating out would also be about $100, unless we go somewhere really nice. So with our family of five, that is $40.00 per person. I think that's acceptable. We do eat out a lot but for me it is easy (no clean-up) and for dh it is something he really enjoys.

Well, going by this weeks totals- it was about $170.00 and some odd cents- but DH gets paid biweekly so that is for 2 weeks (without an additional $10 for milk throughout the next week and a half)- so roughly $85 a week- approx. $21.25 per person. That does not sound too bad! I want to cut that down even more! BTW- we don't go out to eat that much anymore- it gets too expensive with dh not working full 40 hour weeks.

I haven't started a food budget yet, but I am cooking all meals, not eating out or buying any convienience foods and so once I do sit down and write out a budget, it will more than likely be easier. I would love for it to be $25 per person, per week. We have a family of three, but my son is one and eats off our plates and so it would be $50 a week total. I am excited to get it down to that and hopefully not make it feel like we are scrimping and scraping.

Lets see our weekely grocery's average around $65. For the 4 of us. We have pizza on saturday evening which is about $15, and we go out for Breakfast after mass on Sunday which is another $20. My 13 month old does still nurse (urgh!!!!) But, her weight is in diapers, and etc. included in the grocery bill. So I guess right now it's $25 each. This week I am going to take a day and make alot of pizza crusts and freeze them so on saturday we can make our own pizza and save some cash.

For our family of 6 its about $21 per person per week. I budget $500 per month for food, that includes all school lunches and eating out about once every 10 days.
