I thought this was an interesting article:
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...2000AYear.aspx

Not only is this woman living on $12,000 a year, she's going to school and tithing to her church. Awesome!

While I think that is really good, I don't think she truly lives on that. She says she babysits occasionally and does some odd jobs. She also regularly gets food from a food bank. Personally, I think she should have a part time job, most people do while they go to school. But hey, if she is happy and surviving, good for her!!! (gad it is not me!)

I read that too and found it interesting. I also read the article about making $150,000 yearly and having a hard time making ends meet!!! Amazing, huh??

That was an interesting article. OK if you choose to live that way. The nice thing is, that in America, we have a choice. However, if my babysitter asked to do her laundry at my place all the time, I wouldn't care for that. Don't like freeloaders. Just because they say it's OK doesn't make it so. How do you say no without looking like a jerk.

She has a wonderful attitude toward life. I think we could all learn something from her.

"That's not to say that I wouldn't like to have more cash. It would allow me to help my daughter, to secure my future, to buy more roasts and fewer pinto beans. But I figure I won the cosmic lottery just by being born in America, a country where I can not only work on a college degree at age 48, but also find scholarships and education grants to help me pay for it. I have a roof over my head, food every day, family and friends, and occasionally even a $10 student ticket to the Seattle Symphony. Some days I feel like the luckiest person in the world."

IT goes to show that yes you can live on very little.

However I dont see why she cant work part time. My dh works 40plus and takes three classes. He also does vulnteer work and has to help his mom on weekends. And yes he does still make family time.

Actually the more I think about the madder it makes me. I cant believe she would rather spend hours looking for freebies than spend a few hours working. Okay I make my money for the family by saving money. I spend hours searching for the best deal and going to three differnet stores but I also have two kids that need me home.

GET A JOB LADY!
